plumbing in dishwasher

Hi, this is probably a really daft question but im clueless when it comes to DIY. me and my boyfriend move into our first house on friday my main priority is a dishwasher (bit mad i know but i dont do washing up lol)
The lady that lived there before didnt have one therefore there isnt actually a space for one.
There is a cubboard next to the sink i was thinking of taking the cuboard door off and everything chopping off that thing that goes along the bottom and sticking a dishwasher in there (probably going to look terrible)
will it be easy enough for the plumber to fix it up to whatever connections are around the sink or do dishwashers get attached to where the washing machine pipes are?
or is it a bigger job than im thinking it will be?

Should be simple enough, although as you say, it will look a bit iffy.0

We had the same issue when we moved into our current house. We did the same as you, we took out a cupboard next to the sink (do this yourself or the plumber may well charge an extra hours labour to remove this) to make room for the dishawasher. The pipework was actually all in place, all it needed was the correct taps fitting to the ends of the pipes and a waste pipe fitting which just conects to the down pipe from the sink.
The lady we bought the house off left details of a local handyman who we asked to do the plumbing, he charges about half as much as your average plumber (he also replaced the shower for us). It might be worth asking whoever you are buying the house off if they know of anybody who might do this for you, we were left all sorts of contact details by the very kind lady we bought our house off and it saved us loads of money."We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein0
