Turn my garden shed into a room

Hi there everyone.
I've done a lot of lurking in these wonderful, useful forums but this is my first post with a question I can’t seem to find much info on anywhere else. We have a 3 bed mid terrace with a big garden, 3 kids, no space and no money. I want to investigate turning a shed into a proper, secure insulated room, with wiring (although no plumbing would be needed). I know there are websites which offer amazing "garden rooms" for £6,000 or so but I want to know how to get it done by just buying a shed from Homebase or somewhere and doing the work ourselves. Telewest seem to have something going with a “wireless shed” but when you click on the link that is meant to tell you how to do it, it turns into Virgin Media!
It will be my husband that’s doing it but I need to persuade him by showing him how cheap and easy it would be! Has anyone done it and can you tell us how??
Many thanks if you can help.
Phylly

I think they need to insulate it with that dense insulated board like Kingspan. It is lightweight so could easily be fastened with no nails glue and then perhaps put some plywood and painted to make the shed light. The problem is you will loose some space obviously with the insulation, not sure what you could put on the floor though. If it was a small shed I doubt it will have a lot of room0

Thanks for that, SM! We could get quite a big shed I think...0

Insulate the walls/roof, plasterboard
More worried about the floor, would it have to be 'stiffened up' ??0 -
id say you would be better off buying a porta cabin like on building sites which second hand can be picked up cheap.thats if you can get it lifted into your garden.they come in all sorts of sizes i was offered one for a job we were doing 8 months back for £350 inc delivery to site .if you think peoples advice is helpfull please take the time to clicking the thank you button it gives great satisfaction0

A friend of mine bought a basic garden shed, insulated it, put plasterboard up inside (and i think that also included the flooring) carpeted it, decorated it and has now even put air con into it (although i still wind him up that its just a cat flap lol) - but its like a real office!!!!!! It just goes to show that a bit of imagination can go a long way!
Good luck!!!NEVER look down at somebody....unless you are helping them up.0
