Decent PVC or Cheap Composite Back Door?

I think I now have the front door decided on (rockdoor). Now making our minds up about the rear door.
Was going to just have a basic PVC back door, half window. But, just popped into B&Q and spotted they seem to do nicer looking composite doors of a similar design, just a bit more than the PVC ones.
I am guessing the PVC might be of higher overall quality. We much prefer the look of the composite doors though, with the wood effect finish.
Any advice on which to choose? Budget is a big concern, we certainly couldnt go for a rockdoor on the back. But, if the difference were just a few quid for a composite - we would consider that.

Both have their good and bad points. Apart from cost, you should also consider security, as well as looks.
I personally don't like the look of UPVC doors, but do believe that they can be slightly more secure with the automatic frame locks etc although others will argue with me no doubt.
The composite doors get my vote for looks and it is always possible to add more security features like 5 lever locks and such.0 -
composite are more secure every time.
did no one see that prog on the telly where the thief just kicked the upvc lower panel out?
dont matter how many locks you have if the panel is stuck in with yuhu glue!Get some gorm.0 -
I realise that in general composite doors are regarded as bettet than PVC, but the question is a bit more specific.
For example. Will a £350 composite door be as good as a £350 PVC door? I understand composite doors are more expensive, so I am just worried that it would be better going for a higher quiality PVC than a low (bottom of the basement) composite.0
