Painting Brick

Hi everyone
I have painted the brick in our porch it has 3-4 coats of outside
masonry paint on them but after the paint dries it turns a light tan colour in places's.
Has anyone any ideas on what to do please? I know about using pva before painting but unsure of the mix with water.
Thank you Niall

water based paint should not be used over pva -
you should use a stabilizing solution if the bricks work is powerdery or sandy
if not then a thinned coat of masonry paint to seal brick work followed by a couple of coats of masonry paint will do the trick
the light tan could be a stain coming thru the paint and can be sealed with a solvent based paint - either undercoat or a stain block sealer / primer0
