Alitalia - advice please

When returning from Bari on 3 September, got to the airport and saw that Alitalia had cancelled our flight to Rome which would get us our connection to Heathrow. The rerouted us via Milan but this left 2 hours later and we arrived in London 3 hours later than we were supposed to. Added to them losing our luggage on the way out (knew they would so packed enough in hand luggage for two day) and then on the way back, wasnt very happy with them.

I estimated that we now fell into the new EU rules and should get 250euros compensation. So I called them on the Monday morning, followed their laborious procedures and made a claim. nearly 8 weeks later, I'm still being messed about and havent heard a dickie bird from them. Whenever I call, you have to leave a number and they call back hours later only to say its still being investigated. (To think I could have flown Ryanair direct for similar money and at least I would have known their customer services would have been a waste of time. )

Anyhow, I faxed them last week demanding a response but nothing. Any views on what to do next? Should I threaten claim through small claims court?

btw - Puglia in southern italy is wonderful - spoke to one other brit in 2 weeks.
