Hi
I have put in a claim for a refund of extortionate A & L bank charges, and have received the standard 'awaiting the result of court case' reply. However, I would seriously like to close the account, but would this mean my A & L claim would be invalidated?

No this won't invalidate your claim, theres no problem with claiming on closed accounts, although most banks won't allow you to close an account if it has a negative balance, so if your isn't go right ahead and carry on with your claim.
Carry on with your claim time table and don't listen to your bank telling you that you cannot progress your case during the btest case as it's just notvtrue you can carry on right upto and including filing at court but once you have theres a high likelyhood that it will be stayed.
If you qualify under the new hardship rules then you may be one of the lucky ones that gets a payout
have a look at this
Bank Charges News. FSA holds reclaiming for 6 more mths.

good luck with your claim
