What Benefits is Baby Asha entitled to?

Right,

I've been putting this job off for bloody ages cos i'm scared about the number of bloody forms i'll have to fill out!

As most of you know my baby was born in September and is now 10 weeks old.

Im out of work (not claiming JSA yet) whilst Mum is on School Teachers maternity pay. We are living with my parents so no mortgage.

So my question is..... with all the benefits available what is she/we entitled to ? tax credits/child benefit/ working tax credit/ sure start grants - anything else? also where do i start with getting the forms etc???

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Neil

    Hi Neil
did you not get an apllication form to claim child benefit for Asha whilst she was in hospital.
It is paid from the Monday following childs birth (or at least it was last year when i had youngest). No idea if it's backdated tho - if you need phone no post back and i'll go dig it out.

You should also get CTC -child tax credit - it is paid at a higher amount till baby is a year old - you might get WTc - working tax credit also - but i don't know you'll need to ring and get them to send froms out for you.

No idea about Surestart - but as 160 says sure Fran will be able to answer you.

The CAB advice site might be useful as well.

    http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/index/life/benefits/benefits_for_maternity_and_for_children.htm

Apply for Child Tax Credits as soon as you can. You can apply online so don't even have to wait for the forms to arrive. To qualify for Working Tax Credit you must earn a maximum joint income of about £14000 per annum (gross.)

    http://www.inlandrevenue.gov.uk/taxcredits

If you haven't managed to track down your Child Benefit form from your hospital Bounty pack, you can phone for one on 0845 3021444.
  • Oh Man....... U guys are just so helpful.

Many Many thanks and god bless ya! ;D

....and a big pukey kiss from baby Asha too....
