update on our DFW journey

Hey everyone,
It may be too early to celebrate but it is day 18 of our new bank account, staying in CR, pay everying and saving each week for cars, xmas, etc. I am so proud of us.
We still owe what we owe (currently 25.5K) but this has got to be positive hasn't it? When we started this journey about two months ago we were looking at a £400 EVERY month deficit and if my spreadsheet and bank balance are to be believed we are on target to break even, pay EVERYTHING, including an amount to the massive OD we left behind in our previous bank, which hasn't been decreasing for about a year and transfer weekly amounts over to another account for future expenses like xmas, childrens bus pass, childcare, cars etc.
I know we have a long way to go but I am writing this really because when I awoke today I was feeling really down about it all and I have just made a list of the positives to try and lift my mood.
I know this may not seem like much to others, but it is a VERY long time since we lived in a CR balance and not an OD.
Thanks to everyone for their support, suggestions and tips. We now withdraw cash each week and live off it and when it is gone it's gone. Our shopping bill for the last 6 or so weeks has been £60 and under (one week it was £36) that is for two adults, one teenager and a five year old. I don't think its bad at all.
sorry if this is over the top, but I wanted to write it down to lift my mood and share it on here to show others it can be done.

I have just shredded the DMP paperwork from National Debtline and called them to say we are going to give ourselves 6 months to a year to see how things go and then consider a dmp then if no improvement. Am I being hasty????!!!!The good you do comes back to you.DFW Long haul supporters No: 1340

bump... it's quiet on here.
Or does no one want to talk to me.
Sorry if I am being self obsessed, it's just how I feel today.
My mood is swinging between down and up!!
Need to stop being so obsessed about this and live!!The good you do comes back to you.DFW Long haul supporters No: 1340 -
Sorry I can't answer that Ruby, but I just want to say congratulations on your progress to date. It doesn't matter whether others think it's OTT (although I doubt anyone on here would), but the important thing is that you have the motivation to keep going each day.
Well done to you and your family.YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)
really....it's not hard to understand :T0 -
Well done for being so up-beat.
It's nice to hear better news for a change!

Thanks both for taking the time to reply. It really does only take a few words of encouragement from others in a similar position to help lift the mood!!
I had better sign off and go and do some housework, I have been doing sums, online banking, spreadsheets, opening savings accounts, all morning!!
Feel like I need to take a rest from 'thinking' about it all!! and lighten up a bit.
thanks again:A
