Good hair products and straighteners?

Just had a funky haircut where I used to have insanely long and messy hair. Its going to need some styling for nights out, but I'm on a bit of a tight budget at the mo! Can anyone recommend good hair products (probably need spray, mousse and wax) that aren't too expensive? And reasonably good straighteners?

I'm a big fan of Treseme hair products as you get plenty for your money and they're often of special offer. Not sure what straighteners are best but I've got some Remington Wet-to-Straight ones which are great but I've had them for a couple of years so there might be some better ones around now.. Straigtheners are the best invention since the wheel in my opinion!

Hey I second the wet-to-straight straighteners they are ace!!! It's great not to have to blow dry and then straighten!!! Hair products that are great are the l'oreal products in the blue tubs. If you have a funky short cut and want a messed up look go for 'out-of-bed' in the range. Can't recall the proper name but it's available at Boots, Superdrug and all supermarkets and is often on special offer!!! Nothing compares in my opinion and even when we are very much penny pinching it is one of the only things we will still buy!!!

    Hope that helps!!!

I like wet to straights cos I'm rubbish at blowdrying - but for dry hair I cant beat my GHDs tbh and I've tried a few different brands in the past.

I've seen a pair of remington wet to straight ones in boots yesterday at £29.99 (I think) and have my eye firmly set on them but didnt have my boots card on me. When I 1st wanted a pair they were at least 70 or 80 quid :) But the only thing I'd have to see about is maybe a change in the products I get for my hair incase it doesn't protect my hair as good on the wet-2-straight straighteners if anyone has any tips on products

  • A 'leave in' conditioner might help such as John Frieda wind down relaxing creme - add it after shampoo and conditioner, before drying and don't rinse it out. Don't need to use much, mainly on the ends rather the roots and it lasts a long time

I wouldn't use wet to dry straighteners, they are much worse for your hair that ordinary straighteners (or so I am told).

I've got four pairs of straighteners, and I find them all pretty much the same. I'm quite impressed with these Andrew Collinge ones, which I use in the week (at work)

Boots own brand hair products are cheap as chips and quite good.

Yes, they go from 130 to 220 degrees.
  • I would vote for Tresemme or Pantene, they both do great hair products that really seem to increase the health of your hair. As for straighteners I bought GHD years ago when I had more money than sense. They are amazing and work really well on my long hair but I do have to blow dry first.

As they still work perfectly I cannot allow myself to replace them with the 'wet to dry' ones though I KNOW it would save me time and energy!! guess I am being a good Money saver cos I am not ditching a perfectly good item for another that would need to be paid for!!
To be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough.
