Chuffed with Barclaycard

I've held a Barclaycard Platinum for around 4 years, I originally got it for a 0% purchases offer but never got rid of it as I usually paid it off in full and never had any complaints about the customer service. I originally had an interest rate of 14.9% when the offer expired but in the four years its risen and dropped on several occasions. A few years back the simplicity card came out which offered an interest rate of 6.9% on everything as standard. sounded ideal but wasn't open to existing customers without taking out another card which I didn't want to do. Decided to ring them up and moan and got my rate lowered to 12% which was apparently the best they could do. Anyway, since then I've not really paid attention (all my creditcard debt is on 0% so no need to worry about it, just I use my Barclaycard for my business expenses and some personal spending)
On the spur of the moment yesterday I saw they still offered the simplicity card at 6.8% and was still annoyed that I couldn't get that so thought stuff it I'll ring up and see what they can do. Got told I could only have it if I opened a new account so told him I wanted to cancel my card (I currently have a balance of £50 so knew it couldn't be closed immediately) they transfered me and I got asked why I wanted to cancel. Told the nice lady that I was unhappy with the interest rate to which she said they could lower it to 9.9% which is better but still far off what my target was. Anyways... Cutting this long boring story short I now have an interest rate of 6.6%!! Result!

The base rate of my card is now 18.9% if I spend below £25. Anything over £25 is a rate of 9.9% and anything over £50 is 6.6%. Don't know if this offer is time limited or has been mentioned before but thought I should mention it in case other people are in the same boat and wanted a lower rate on their card.:)

    hi Vwman,
do you mean you have had the same rate ...whatever it is....since Feb 2007 or do you mean that you have had a 6.6% rate since Feb 2007 ??

    Hi
Base rate of 18.9%, then the same as you, spend under £25 a month and it's 18.9% spend between £25 and £49.99 and it's 9.9%, then anything over £50 and it's 6.9%. (Spending monthly)

Just checked the letter I had confirming it and it's dated February 2007.

I did a search but couldn't find anything listed about this offer so just thought I'd mention it so other people may be able to benefit. Thats all.
