FWIW, I've used AMD since K5 days, I now have an intel Q9300 (running at 3ghz) and it is stunningly fast.Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -

intel are the fastest at the monent for general us and (amd fans will not like this) for gaming too (which is a shame)
AMD for general us and gaming is perfectly fine put intel is a lot faster
cost theycost about the same until you get to the high end cpus ,then intel cost more ,understandable when they are the leaders.
for the normal person that do's not game in a big way get the one that suets your needs pocket wisethere or their, one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff0 -
In terms of raw performance and also power consumption the AMD Turion X2 can't touch the Intel Core 2 Duo - that's how good Intel's product is in this generation of processors.
However, in terms of performance value for money, the AMD option is not too bad. They are generally found in the cheaper laptops where pure performance or heat isn't that big an issue.
We can look at the next generation mobile platforms as well: AMD has launched their Puma platform, which uses Turion64 X2 Ultra processors. Although the processors just about keep up with the current crop of Core 2 Duos, the keystone of the Puma platform is the Radeon HD3200 integrated graphics chip, which blows the Intel X3100 integrated graphics chip clean out of the water. In short, if you're looking for value for money, the Puma platform is great.
Intel will be coming up with Centrino 2 in the next few months. It has a new integrated graphics option (X4500) as well but it remains to be seen if that can challenge the Radeon HD3200.0
