Hello,
My Dad does pretty basic things on the pc so I was wanting to buy him a laptop that he could look at his football sites etc, I am going to buy a TV card and that is fast enough for him to watch live streaming of sport (he's just discovered bet365.com). That's about it. Is it gonna be possible to get a decent system for £250, also it needs wifi so he can feed off my isp. I'd really appreciate any help, his birthday is less than six weeks away and I am panicking. Thanks

I'm not sure about sub-£250 laptops, but if you can stretch your budget a bit, Amazon have an Acer Aspire 5315 for £279.
It's certainly not the fastest machine in the world, but it looks like it'll do everything your Dad needs.0 -
Or you could go for the new Advent sub-notebook, the 4211.
Only came out a couple of days ago, PC World £279, but demand has been high - last time i checked they were out of stock!
Again, if you can get your hands on one, the Asus EEE PC, around the £200 mark!0 -
An XP one would probably be cheaper than a Vista one and would run better on lower specs. You can get refurbished ones from PC World starting from £220 which come with 12 month warranties. They're usually ex display or ones that have been returned, been sent back to the factory and had new bits put in but can't be sold as new.0

Dell have several for £299, and with vouchers and links from this site: www.dmxdimension.com you might be able to get it lower.0

That one looks good to me, there are a few on that site though.0
