Overdrawn Current Account before BR

Hi Again,

I have a current account which is a 'Smile' account with the Co-op Bank, this account will be £500 overdrawn to its limit when i go to the courts on monday after taking out the court fees, and any surplus (for a pint after hopefully).

Should I put this on this on my list of creditors aswell (I have sucessfully opened a co-op cashminder account)

I appreciate that this will be frozen but am not too concerned as i should be able to transfer my two direct debits in time if the OR unfreezes the cashminder as thats where my JSA will be paid in and hopefully soon wages.

Just trying to make sure that everything is ok on the forms before i print of three copies to find an error. d'oh.

Thanks
Matt

Mmm... the pint after?? Wasn't this and fake sickies that contributed to BR in the first place??? ;);)

Anyhow - yes, list them as a creditor. It may be an idea to withdraw the money out a few days before hand though.

Or perhaps use some of your redundancy thats left. The OR may not be best pleased if you have run up debts when you had access to the money.

was only said in tongue in cheek, and there is no way i could run up debts, when there is nothing to run up debts with.

Matt, your OD is still a debt. And if you withdraw the money for fees then its a bigger debt.

TBH, most OR's tend to ignore the little bits where you take the money for essentials - like the court fees or the difference between eating or starving. But when you had the redundancy money and some of it is with your GF or Mum (can't remember) the OR will know who has it and will know you had access to it and may be rather miffed at you.

And I know the pint comment was tounge in cheek - don't worry!

now you have me worried as i gave me mum £3000. three months ago, i have been on job seekers allowance on and off since then, and its now down to £1700 (which includes the fees to go BR). What is worse that the OR can do, not that i am that worried as my credit file is shot to bits and have no chance of getting a mortgage even if i was debt free.

Have to say i do agree with skylight on this one. We do normally say use cc or overdrafts for bc fees and the OR is usually ok with this. BUT when you have nearly £2,000 in your mums bank acc from your redundancy money and you want to use your overdraft facility, thats taking he sipp a little matt. Especially when there are so many others on this site that have to save for mths for their bc fees.

Can i just ask why did you not go bc when you got made redundant,as at that point you must have know you were insolvent?.D

The worst is a BRO/U which will extend your BR restrictions by 2 to 15 years.

Matt - I didn't mean to worry you too much. The OR is not going to send people round and clamp you in irons (unless the OR is that way inclined.......)

The money you have spent so far can mostly be explained with day to day living expenses and BR fees etc.

As to your mention in your firsts post here about your cashminder account, the OR is unlikely to freeze this one anyway if you explain about it having your JSA paid into, therefore it is vital.

To reply to Dalip, i thought that i would get a job straight away after being made redundant as I have never been out of work before, but after three months trying to get back into the IT industry which i love has been so hard, so am now looking lower down just to get myself back into employment.

I didnt mean to offend anyone on this board, but am just scared that after being made BR I will not have any money available to go to interviews as my SOA has no allowance for it . I hope you understand and apologise again for any offence caused.

Matt we are not offended at all. You are rightly stressed by all this and are not sure what is right. Hopefully things are a bit clearer now.

    Wishing you all the best.
