Changing surname by deed poll, will we have to reaply for notice of marriage?
Bit of a pickle but we want a double barreled surname and have just realised we would have been better with him applying for a surname change via deed poll. My question is if we change his surname now, would we have to reapply and pay the £70 for the notice of marriage again to show this new joint surname? Or do we just…

Blowout Honeymoon in Argentina.... is it a good idea...?
I posted this on the holidays board but no replies so figure it might be better placed here.... We get married in October and for various reasons we have not been able to look at our honeymoon until now. So we have ended up being really keen on Argentina but it's working out so expensive. We would need to card quite a bit…

What did you put in your invites?
Ok, i'm stuck! Apart from the obvious, what did you include in your invites? Did you include a map of how to get there? (our venue is a little out in the sticks but reasonably well known in the area) Did you include your menu? How about details of hotel rooms and b&b's? The venue has blocked off 20 rooms for us, i have a…

Mother of the Bride Outfit
DD getting married next year and have started to look at outfits to get an idea of what's out there. Shocked at the price of some of them and how limited the selection is. Seems to be a stiff dress with a bolero jacket in as many colours as you want or a floaty floral dress and edge to edge jacket and neither of them would…

Signature on marriage certificate
Don't know whether this is the best place to ask, but... Got married last week and looked at the marriage certificate for the first time after getting home from honeymoon, and its not the one we signed. Our names are handwritten, by the registrar I assume. Is this normal?

Dealing with the post-wedding blues?
Ok, all you ladies who have been there (I know some of you still hang around!) How did you deal with the post-wedding blues? I have just got back from honeymoon and feel, tbh, pretty wretched. Even though I know logically I have a great life and should be excited about starting married life (which I am!) I can't shake just…

Changing my name - undecided
Hello everyone, I'm hoping you can offer your feelings of changing your name when married. I am still undecided as I don't think I want to give up my name as I consider a big part of my identity and I am very close to my family and don't want to feel less like a part of them, yet I also want to have the same name as my…

Wedding favours - anyone tried asking for free samples?
Hi there, I have emailed various different cosmetic/perfume companies (probabaly about 50 in total) this evening, asking them for a batch of free samples to use as wedding favours. Has anyone ever done this, and more importantly, had any sucess with it? I shall keep you posted on the rejection emails I am expecting :rotfl:

April 2014 weddings
It's one year today until I get married :j so now the countdown is really on! (I don't think there's an April 2014 thread yet, but please move this if I'm wrong...) There seems to be a few of us April brides so I thought I'd start a breakaway group from the general 2014 thread so that we can better gauge how our planning…

Has anyone asked for money instead of gifts?
Having combined our two households, my fiance and I have two of everything, and live in a tiny little house. A lot of stuff has been eBayed, put into the loft, or given away. We do not need more stuff! As we wandered around the shops yesterday, we couldn't find anything we really need. However, we have gone a bit OTT with…
