water meter
I will be having a water meter fitted in the next 3 months. Do i continue as i am with the usage,or even use more,so that when i get my first bill,i can see if it is going to save money? Or,do i start trying to cut down asap, but does this give a false idea of how much i can save?
switching to water meter
At the moment, there are two of us in four-bed house and buy.co.uk tells me we could save £90 a year by switching to a water meter. I read in Martin's book you could switch back within a year so can you not switch back after a year ever? Once we have a couple of kids, it might be cheaper not to have a meter but that won't…
Water Meter - What if there is a leak?
I am thinking of changing to a water meter and worked out that I will save about £50 per year if not more. My concern though is if there is a leak between the service outside my garden and inside (ie I do not know about it). Is there insurance to cover the involuntary 'usage'?
£5 off water bill
Money Saving misers in the Three Valleys area get a £5 rebate if they pretend to be out when the meter reader comes round and then have to send in their own reading.

Paying for repairs to water pipes
My first post! I hope it is in the right forum. I received a letter today from Thames Water asking me to pay £16 a year to cover myself against the cost of repairs to the part of the water pipe that I am responsible for. (Apparently "from the boundary of the public highway to where it goes under my outside wall"). Their…
water saving grants
just moving into a new house where the previous owner had a water meter fitted, we cannot get it removed so need to find ways to save ( legally ) ie: not plumbing into next doors supply, we have decided to use water butts and filters and by collecting rain water can expect to collect enough for the garden, loo and washing…
Severn Trent Water - poor service
Very long story but Severn Trent put a note through the door to tell me I have a leak in my service pipe! Three months later I am still fighting to get proper information from them and to speak to someone knowledgable. Exasperated I wrote a letter of complaint with letter to my MP and OFWAT. It's taken a week but I have a…
