Southern price increase of 54% - doesn't this break Ofwat's price cap?
My cubic metre sewage charge from Southern increased in March from 246.10p to 379.40p, which is 54%. I understood that Ofwat had capped it to a lower number. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Southern Water 52% price increase for Waste Water only?
This is more of a rant
or vent than anything else but I would welcome comments. We live in a four
bedroom house near Chichester in West Sussex. Portsmouth Water supply
our water and Southern Water take away waste water. We are not on a water
meter. Portsmouth Water latest bill is a very reasonable £130 for
July 2024 to…

Paying by standing order
Been paying my business water bill in installments via standing order since 2023 without any problems. In April 2025 they contacted me to say they wanted me to go on direct debit but I refused and carried on paying via standing order, mainly because the company are incompetent from previous experience. I've never refused…

What next....meter issues/leak
Hello, After receiving our bill yesterday....I've finally challenged Southern Water as they wanted to up our Direct Debit to £177 per month from August!!! This year has been £72. For context, we are two adults (and one dog) living in a three bed mid-terrace. And before anyone asks....we don't have a pool/hot tub/pond. We…

South East Water
Trying to log into my South East Water account to download and pay my latest bill and it fails. Correct email and password, comes up with 'something went wrong'. This has worked fine before. If I click the 'forgotten password' button it claims to have sent me an email but nothing arrives. There are two other options, via…

Single Person Water discount
Hi all, does anybody know if you can reclaim on previous years bills where you were eligible for single occupancy but never applied, I can see that the water companies can increase your bills going back as far as they want, but nothing on ofwat or their websites about backdating claims for single occupancy. Would be…

Severn Trent smart water meters disappointment
Severn Trent provided a smart water meter a couple of years ago. It later installed telephone poles equipped with radio equipment to collect data from the meters. Even better, it provided customers with My Smart Tracker, which provided hourly water usage statistics. Last week, Severn Trent stated to me: "we don't provide…

Water Bill dispute help if water board not helping
My 86 year old parents noticed a dramatic increase in their water usage, and contacted the water boards, who discovered they had a leak and “fixed it”. Which they didn’t, they called them out again and repaired it properly a second time, so they were told, we contacted them again and they said it is high and they would…

South Staffs Water didn't even read my mums meter for her bills
I didn't know that my mum had a water meter , but I since discovered she had it for perhaps 10 years out more. When I contacted South Staffs Water about change of bill payer , they asked for a reading (that's how I found that she had a meter). It was dirty and dusty that it was clear to me that no one could have read the…

Over Charged for 8 years
It was recently discovered that the water meter fitted for my flat 8 years ago was supplying my downstairs neighbours flat as well. He was never on a metered connection. I have therfore been charged for all the water he has used as well as mine. We both now have internal meters fitted. I've raised this with ses water twice…

Has anyone reverted back to unmetered/rateable charging after meter fitted?
My water meter is bring fitted this week and Im sure its going to save me money on my current £110/month charges with UU. There seems to be this thing where I can decide within 24 months if I wanted to switch back to rateable charges so I was wondering if anyone had actually reverted back because they didnt make much of a…

Severn Trent 2025/26 Increase
The average Severn Trent water bill is going up by 22% from 1st April, according to MSE. https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2024/12/water-bills-rise-england-wales-2025 However, I just had my bill come through (for a non-metered, residential supply) and it's gone up by 30%. Do Ofwat set different increases for metered…

Why would I have a sudden, drastic reduction in water consumption?
I've always felt my water bill is high for a two person household, but previous meter readings over the last few years have always suggested high usage. I'm having a bit of financial overhaul and thought I'd take a look at my SWW account, and was surprised to see my account is currently in credit. What I'm struggling to…

Water bill - HOW MUCH??? - is this normal?
Our water bills have almost doubled in 2 years from £600 to nearly £1,100 a year. Metered house, 2 adults and 3 teenagers. Meter reading read by water company remotely. Is it just the cost that has soared or has our usage become excessive - 5 month gap in the readings here. We seem to be average according to tne volume on…

Thames Water - high usage...
Have been in my current address for 4 years, never really
noticed an issue with water, just paid the bills. Back in October 2024 however something caught my eye
– as a little aside, the bill mentioned
my use was the equivalent of 3 bathtubs full of water every day. I had never looked at litres/use before but
this struck me…

Help with water bills when someone in the family has Crohn's (but not on benefits)
Just wondering if anyone has managed to get a reduction in their water bill because of a medical condition requiring more water usage than normal - but the family isn't in receipt of benefits. Thames Water - unexpected account credit
Hello all, I just wanted to ask if anyone has received a credit out of the blue from TW? I just checked my account and was surprised to see a credit of over £400. There's no explanation of this on my online account pages. I'm metered and pay £20pm (single household). I went on a meter over a year ago, and before that would…
