What type of desktop PC runs fastest?
My desktop PC is beyond slow. Loading up, loading apps, everything. My internet is slow too but that’s because it’s copper. I don’t think this would affect the speed the PC runs at normally. I bought it in 2020 and don’t use it for much, just basic Microsoft Word and Excel and browsing. Not a load of apps on it or gaming.…

Linksys Velop WHW0303 - still not reaching around the house!
After suffering with FTTC for 8 years we finally got SWISH broadband FTTP a couple of years ago and were obviously ecstatic. However, although the signal arriving at the router is great, the Wifi reach around the house is shocking. So I bought the Linksys Velop WHW030 at the end of 2023 to help push the signal around. 18…

Windows 10 Upgrade - OPatch
In anticipation for the October deadline for W10 support. I am looking for my options without changing my PC and laptop. One of the options is to use OPatch to handle security updates which MS will cease to do. Does anyone know how efficient this is and what it costs in comparison to MS's option to pay $30 for an extra…

Landline phone problem
We recently changed broadband contract to EE, the contract including broadband, landline and calls. The phone is now digital and working fine, though there is a problem when needing to press a digit in response to a caller's request. For example, we had a call in which we needed to press the star button in order to receive…

How do I delete what's app from my android phone?

Android TV Box - measured download speeds
Recently tested download speeds to two Android TV boxes connected via powerline adapters. With several different apps, the d/l rate was ~ 5mbps ! altho' the upload was as expected ~ 10mbps. Testing from a Windows PC gave ~ 38 mbps - about right for my 40/10 FTTC connection. Even via wireless I can get 35+mbps. I can still…

Microsoft 600 keyboard discontinued. Any other recommendations by way of replacement please.
Pretty much as per the title. You get used to things and I'm comfortable with it. Have had a couple over the years. Current one hasn't failed but I'd like a spare for if and when it does. It has a handy volume control which I use and there's a calculator button too. I just took a chance on a used one on ebay for a tenner…

iMac - will it cost less in UK
Hello, I’ve been considering a new Apple IMac for a while (big purchase for me) and was about to buy one - but I was thinking that if US tariffs to China stay in place is there a chance that prices in UK might drop to a degree that O should hold off for now? I know all is very uncertain at the moment - so just interested…

Microsoft 365 Family - Sharing
Hello Forumites, I wonder whether you can assist. I have a Microsoft Account with "Microsoft 265 Family" subscription. This allows the account to be shared with up to five others. Windows Back up migration between laptops
Morning clever tech peeps, I bought a new laptop and used the Windows Back up app to back up the old one to transfer stuff to the new one. We don't have much stored, or valuable, on the old one so it was more for the convenience of apps, bookmarks, logins etc. When I started the process on the old one I couldn't remember…

iPhone 13 Pro notifications
My iphone has become selective about what it chooses to notify me of - this is confined to a few apps, notably Gumtree and Olio (both of which have put me off posting freebies as it becomes a task in vigilance to monitor messages) and Ring. Yet others appear to work - such as Boots, BlueLightCard, Fitness. This actually…

Ring Video Doorbell privacy
My neighbour has recently got a Ring Video Doorbell installed on her door and I am now concerned with my privacy. I find this an invasion of privacy…
