Easy starter for Christmas dinner?
I'm cooking Christmas dinner this year for 8 people. We are having a turkey crown with all the usual trimmings but I can't decide what to do for a starter. None of the guests will eat anything remotely fishy. I'm not the best cook in the world but do a fab roast so it's only the starter that's a worry. Please can anyone…

The dreaded Christmas Twitch
Forgive me MSE, for I have sinned. My Christmas present buying was officially finished end of November, but last night, on finishing wrapping, and realising just how small dd's piles would be this year, I got the dreaded, uncontrollable Christmas twitch :-( I tossed and turned all night, the little cherub on my right…

Past Christmas 'Disasters' ?
Boxing Day morning, several years ago, the power cut out. No Electricity! It turned out to be a broken cable in the Street outside my house, and the workmen were digging up the road repairing it until 6.30pm. It was a very cold day as i remember, and the Gas Central Heating Boiler wouldn't ignite without power, so it…

Silver or black Christmas tree?
I've bought a small Christmas tree from Paperchase. They had sold out of the green so I decided to go for black but when I got it home and opened the box they had given me a silver one. It's ok and more traditional than black I guess but I can't make my mind up. I've put some purple and blue baubles on it and it looks ok…

Shop Bought Egg Whites
This weekend I'll be making some meringue type dishes as gifts and storing for Christmas party bites. My concern is the number of egg whites I'll be using and the potential waste as I have no immediate use for the yolks.
