Barclays Rainy Day Saver no interest credited
Hi, I've got the Rainy Day Saver open and since October last year the balance is £1 to satisfy the minimum balance requirement. Barclays states they pay interest on the first working day of the month. However, even with just £1 in there I should have been credited with 2 pennies between October and March but nothing. 1st…

In my early 20s, I got into a huge amount of debt. For the last 15 years (I'm 47) I've not really saved much, just laid everything into paying off the debt, which means…

Inheriting shares
My wife is in the process of inheriting some HSBC shares. Does she need to open an HSBC Invest Direct account to hold these shares, or are there other ways to accept the shares when probate is finished? Can she, for example, open an investment account with another bank, say Lloyds or Barclays, to hold the HSBC shares? All…

Child account funds held till 21
Hi my parents want to open bank accounts for their grandchildren and put a lump sum into it but with no access until age 21. They went to Nationwide and were told they can't do anything as our 8 year old is too young. They also spoke to their solicitor who confirmed this was correct? Any advice would be great, thanks.

Where will base rate go in May?
That's the base rate held steady at 4.50% due to global financial turmoil, actual or expected. Are there any considered views what will happen at the next MPC meeting on 8th May? I don't see Trump doing a U-turn on tariffs. But maybe he will be forced to. Thoughts (without being political)?

First Direct Regular Saver funding?
FD t&c are that the payment has to come from the customers 1st current account. Not only do you have to specify to FD admin in advance the amount you intend to invest in a given month you can’t increase it to the max £300 if you made a lower payment prior in that month. Inflexible and rigid terms. What I would like to do…

Aviva shares - cancellation / tender of preference shares
Hi there, Newbie here. My elderly relative has a few shares in Aviva. They've asked me what this letter means. I *think* I know, but I admit I find the letter impenetrable, and would like to be confident when I explain it to them. Can anyone help translate the attached into layman's terms please? Many thanks.

Woodford compensation and No Win No Fee fees
I joined the class action with Harcus Parker for redress from the Woodford catastrophe which to cut a long story short was not heard in court and instead redress was made via FCA. Tax implication of selling stock to invest in pension or ISA
Hi there I have an equity investment that I bought in a year when I had already maxed out my stocks and shares ISA allowance and didn't have a pension product I could pay it in to. Savings interest and tax
Hi am I understanding correctly what Martin said in his program tonight that even though my wife and I are earning over £1000 each in interest, we won't be paying tax because there is an extra £5000 each we can earn? We are both pensioners 80 years old. I have been putting money into ISA's so that our interest from our…

GB Bank - The Good? The Bad? The Ugly?
I'm looking for an easy access savings account, and GB Bank currently seem to have a fairly enticing offer at 4.6% AER with a reasonable minimum opening balance and unlimited withdrawals, but I just don't seem to be able to find much information about them (apart from their own website). Does anybody have any personal…
