Spreads on All-World ETFs
I've been comparing accumulating all world ETFs to decide which to invest in. There are only six options according to Just ETF (https://www.justetf.com/uk/how-to/invest-worldwide.html). I'm trying to minimise costs which restricts me to ETFs because of my broker pricing otherwise I'd not hesitate to invest in HSBC FTSE…

Ford Money interest rate reduction
Had an email this morning, the rate on the flexible saver is reducing by 0.25% to 4.60% on the 22nd February, despite there being no base rate reductions and is on top of the 0.10% reduction which happened this month .

Question about fund/ETF/IT short names
Probably a really stupid question, but here goes anyway. A lot of posts have abbreviations for funds or ETFs or ITs, e.g VWRL for the Vanguard FTSE All Word UCITS USD ETF Dis. For someone who isn't well versed in them, where do I find these abbreviations? I've looked on HL, Morningstar, Fidelity, etc.. and sometimes they…

Oxbury 5.51% fixed STILL available to me?
They have sent me yet another email, notifying me I have 30 days to fund this account, opened in November I think, and waiting for funds. I dithered a bit, having read the reviews about difficulties contacting them, app only management, yada yada, and left it alone. Went with Close Bros. Instead. Got more funds coming up…

St James Place
We have investments (ISA's and Bonds) with St James Place and are aware of their recent bad publicity, The Daily Telegraph ran a feature 'The trouble with SJP'. As a result, we have not had the service levels promised and believe we should claim against SJP. Numerous companies are handling such claims, but they are…

Virgin Money interest rate drop - is this the beginning of saving rate drops??
I have just received an email telling me that my M Plus saver account interest rate is dropping down to 2.50% from the 3.55% It wasn't the best rates to begin with, but that is quite a drop. I wonder if the other institutions will also begin to drop the rates - might be time to lockup in a 1 or 2 year deal now.

Sanctuary Bond from Equfund (IPS) Ltd.
I purchased this bond in 2020 and it was due to mature October 23. I received the first two year's interest payments on time but not the final year's interest or capital, despite many phone messages, emails & letters. The organisation purports to provide affordable housing and are still issuing application forms for…

Metro Bank
Hi everyone. I've just opened a Metro Bank Instant Access Savings Account but I'm having trouble accessing my money. Everytime I've used the app I get a message saying there's an unexpected error and to try again later, which means the money is far from instant. This has happened 95% of the time and I only opened the…

7 year investment time frame
Does anyone have any words of wisdom on where you would accumulate money that you wanted to start drawing on in around 7 years time? Most advice seems to focus on either long term or short term and 7 years seems a bit 'in between'. My personal view is that 7 years would probably be classed more as 'short term' but seems…

Fixed interest funds – yield and rebalancing
This issue started on
a thread where I mentioned holding a corporate bond fund and the
ever-helpful masonic said “If you are holding long term for yield rather than
rebalancing purposes, then price fluctuations should not be a concern.” In my 70%
equity/30% fixed interest portfolio, my instinct would be to rebalance…

METRO BANK TIME WASTED
I drove 44 miles yesterday to Birmingham to open a one year fixed-rate cash ISA. On my arrival at 12.35 pm at their plush reception there were two customer service assistants behind a long desk set out for around six people. In other parts of the reception there were two or three other staff at computers dealing with other…

Bristol & West winding up. Legacy demutualisation shares?
Any share-savvy people here? I've received tiny dividend amounts on a regular basis since it demutualised and thought this would continue for ever and a day. However, just received an inch-thick wadge of mail which, cut short, seems to say that this company is being wound up. Does anyone know what's actually going on here?…
