Monument
Now that Chase's interest rate's going down to 3.5% on 16 January, I'm thinking of moving my money to Monument at 4.55%. With this account demanding a minimum deposit of £25,000, I'd like to know if the balance has to remain no lower than that amount to keep get the 4.55% rate?

High interest savings accounts
Hi, my mum wants to invest £120,000 into a high interest one year, or six month savings account. We were looking at Zenith bank, as mentioned on this website but don't know anything about them. They don't provide an online portal to 'see' your account and only deal with emails and phone calls. This didn't sit right with…

Raisin - anyone else had issues with delays in transfers?
Hi Closed a notice account with Raisin, termination date 8 Jan - no sign of the money the day after so called them. Advised at first that transfers take up to three working days to appear in the Raisin account, yet their own FAQ section on notice accounts states two. Call handler agreed that money should be in my account…

Non existent pension & investments but cash rich...help clueless
I am in a panic as I have realised my total lack of financial planning due to personal circumstances (multiple family issues). I have an NHS Pension which is worth pittance as I've only been in the scheme for less than 5 years. No other private pension. I'm mid 40s. No plans for retirement, I never thought this far ahead…

Is it worth renewing Premium Bonds periodically
I've held the maximum amount of Premium Bonds for a number of years. In the last few months, I've noticed what amounts to a considerable reduction in my returns. I was just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience and if it would improve the results to "refresh" the bonds - that is to cash in and then rebuy a…

What are your annual costs?
Just seen someone in another thread claiming that costs of 1.78% per annum from St James Place are somehow reasonable. Personally, I think that is nonsense and would consider such levels verging on exploitative. But that does beg the question: what is reasonable? How much do typical people actually pay? I just calculated…

Sold/bought meme stocks for years. Finally made a total profit. How to work out & pay tax?
In hindsight, I am ashamed to admit this, but... I got into GME meme stock a few years ago. It went down in price and I panicked sold for a loss and then re-bought more for a few years and "averaged down". This made my average per share stupidly high. This was in Revolut as I had no idea about tax implications. Eventually,…

Help with inheritance investment strategy please
Hi, to cut a long story short, my mother recently died. I want to make sure I am dealing with the finances as 'correctly' as possible, to make the most out of what I have inherited. Her finances were spread across lots of different pots of money: half in a SIPP, half in other places (cash ISA, premium bonds, NHS pension…

Bond fund yields
I have a few
questions about bond fund yields. First, what is the best way to get an
accurate forward/distribution yield? Is HL accurate, showing eg 3.97% for Fidelity’s
gilt fund? Second, to what degree is
there a correlation between a gilt fund and a nominal gilt with a similar duration
(or is it the maturity of the fund…

CHIP poor IT and customer service
More of a warning than a discussion. CHIP offers poor customer service and has problems with their IT logging process throwing up errors. I would NOT recommend them.I set up an account on Day [1] but was unable to transfer money in as it threw up an error code. I contacted support, and on Day [2] I contacted them again.…

Virgin regular saver - missed month
Hi All Just wanting to check if my understanding of the T&Cs is correct. I opened the account in September and paid in the max for that month (£250). I wasn't well organised in October, and didn't make a payment in that month. Made a payment of £250 earlier today (November). The T&Cs say: * You can pay in up to the maximum…

Hi I have 400k that I wish to get invested and apart from the GIA route which has tax implications. Share certificates and addresses
Firstly, apologies if I have posted this on the wrong thread, but its my first post here, so be gentle! My Dad recently passed away, and whilst trying to sort out his estate, I have come across some shares which I had forgotten about. The shares are still registered at my Dad's address. The shares are in SSE, Santander and…

Premium bonds winnings
We have been fortunate to win £25k on the bonds and have the max in. My question is. Is it worth removing the £50k and then rebuying? Does this have any effect on the odds in winning as we have already done so?
