You were less generous than your older sibling FY23, but more generous than the upstart FY25 is expected to be.

CTF child trust fund alternatives for expats
We opened a CTF when we lived in UK, but then moved away. It seems to me we are stuck with a disgraceful 0.035% until child reaches 18, because an ISA isn't allowed Any ideas?

FSCS on Investing sites?
Hey guys, So I was wondering about the £85,000 FSCS protection on investments sites? I was watching some youtube videos about investing, and SIPPs, and they say how I need to make sure it's FSCS protected. But am I right in thinking, if your funds are invested in actual stocks, the £85k protection is invalid? I ask this…

Comparing gross vs AER
I have a Leeds online instant access paying 5.1% annually. Is the AER therefore 5.1% - as it doesn’t state AER anywhere trying to work out the benefit of shifting a large amount to Monument 60 day at 5.15/5.27 AEV if interest is paid into the sane account I’d earn 5.27 vs 5.1 with Leeds is this correct ? if interest is…

What to hold in general account
It makes sense after Sipp and ISA allowances are exhausted to hold something in a general account to mop up your cgt and dividend tax free allowance ? What do people use for this? Any reason not to use a low cost tracker like SWLD or HMWO and buy the quantity of stock to generate £500 in dividend payments?

An instant way to add cash on Vanguard Investing on SIIP Account
I am about to add cash on MY SIIP to use my SIIP allowance this tax year. What is an instant way to add cash on Vanguard Investing on SIIP Account. Aldermore Double Access savings
Might be if interest to some but I done 3 transfers out recently forgetting that the rate would drop. Got an email to confirm this. Was going to transfer the rest of my balance to another savings account but noticed it was still offering the double access issue 1 at 4.9%. The same as I already held. Thought I would apply…

SIPP advice
Newbie here, who has no real knowledge of investing and low risk tolerance I have virtually no income other than my savings Heard a bit about SIPPs and have been told I should put money in a SIPP to get tax relief back - but I don't pay tax except potentially a little on my savings, so not sure I understand how I can get…

Ulster Loyalty Savings Account
I noticed that this account is no longer listed on MSE under "Top Easy Access", even though its listed as 5.2%, which is higher than most on the list. Any particular reason for this? It was there a few months ago. I saw some negative comments about the registering process, and some confusion on whether you need an account…

Venture Capital Trust (VCT), how to buy?
I am considering buying a Venture Capital Trust (VCT). I would like to invest between £20,000 and £50,000. The objective is to obtain a 30% income tax relief for the 2023/2024 tax year. Given that there are three weeks left until the end of the tax year, is it too late to buy a VCT? Could someone recommend a good platform…

Best way to invest about 200k
Hi All, I am a higher rate tax payer and pay into my pension but not a large amount about £400pm as I am still some years away from retirement and do not like that the pension age keeps increasing. I have money in various savings accounts such as Santander, chip and Tandem. I have around 11k in 1 year fixed ISA maturing in…

Quick sanity-check
I was PT-ing somebody today & we happened to get onto finance. They don't have any ISAs but have £40k with Natwest earning 2.x%. Obvs I picked up on this & suggested they open an ISA today to exploit the £20k allowance. For the sake of expedience and to rule out the chance of delays or issues transferring to a new…

Barclays share price improving and other shares?
Any idea why Barclays share price is going up? Is this something across the board or is it just a select few companies? Likely to change at the end of the tax year? And, finally, what effect might this have if I was wanting to buy an annuity? Hopefully it means that the pension pots are larger but maybe the annuities won't…

What's the advantage of a SIPP?
Hello everyone, I just typed 'SIPP' into the search bar, and have a lot of results to go through, but I thought I should try and ask my question, in a clean thread. I've never had a SIPP, and never really earned enough to be bothered. But I have mentioned in the past I have some inheritance I'm trying to make the best use…

Drip-feeding from EA Savings Accounts to fund RS's?
Trying to decide which EA Savings Account to use after Santander eSaver LE Issue 3 drops to 4.2% in May. I use the eSaver to drip-feed a Santander's CA that has SO's set up to fund RS's. I realised that the above EA has a useful facility ... you can set up monthly withdrawals up to 90 days in advance of the set-up date.…
