I'm impressed...
Decided on a whim to go back to the first days of this board, 20+ years ago, and almost from the first post there is Dunstonh doling out advice much as he does today (accurately and not sugar-coated). You have to admire that consistency & commitment. I've lurked/sometimes posted on here a few years I guess, and had a fair…

Has saving affected your mental health.
First time on the Savings thread but i thought it may be the best place to pose this question. I am currently in a very fortunate financial position but it hasn't…

LC&F Government funded compensation scheme set up
https://www.ftadviser.com/regulation/2021/04/19/govt-launches-120m-lcf-compensation-scheme/ I know LC&F bond holders will be happy with this but I personally feel it is wrong. The taxpayer is effectively picking up the tab for bad investment decisions made by people that focused on greed before common sense. Ok, that is a…

Starting my S&S ISA again with Bestinvest
Hi - sorry I have been away from the forum for much of the past year dealing with a painful divorce and didn't want to think about investments as I wasn't entirely clear on how our assets would be divided. Virgin Money 10.38% regular monthly saver
Hi, just wanted to say that it took me just a few pain free minutes to easily open a brand new Virgin Money M Plus account so that I could subsequently open up and pay straight into its 10.38% regular saver account. It's a maximum of £250 per month and maturity date is 31st July 2025 so that was £162 for about 8 minutes…

Reached my emergency fund target and no debt. Mental health so much better!
Today was a big day today. I have reached my emergency fund target of 6 months expenses. It has taken me nearly 9 months to reach doing lots of overtime and cutting back on non-essential expenses. I was also in a lot of debt which I cleared prior to me starting building my emergency fund. Debt was not from frivolous…

I have just noticed on their Facebook page that the underlying interest rate for the Online Savings Account is increasing from 0.40% to 0.50% from today, Wednesday 29th September 2021. If you have opted in to the optional bonus, you should now receive 0.60%. “Today we've increased the underlying interest rate on our Online…

yougov.finance bribe
It's one of these almost-too-good-to-be-true stories, but it is true. First mentioned by @Bridlington1 in the Natwest Regular Saver thread, but I reckon this deserves its own thread as it could be of interest to those who have at least 10 current, credit card and savings accounts and not everyone reads the Natwest RS…
