Saving BT Line Rental when away
With reconnection being free now, is it worth disconnecting your line if going away for an extended period? You save on BT line rental plus avoid the risk of unauthorized calls. What is the bureaucracy for disconnecting and reconnecting, and do you keep your number? Is your CPS provider informed, and might you loose the…

Contract Phone upgrades ?
Due for upgrades on contract phones that I have... Was wondering, does anyone know what the maximum upgrade value the big phone providers are able to offer towards new/upgrade handsets? They quite understandably seem to closely guard this info and I hear quite varied figures... I know there are many factors behind what you…

Don't Call Sky by 18866
DON’T USE 18866 TO CALL SKY. Those using call18866 (see cheapest home phone calls) shouldn’t use it to call Sky’s customer service centre. The way it works means Sky can see it as an overseas number, and I’ve heard reports of them cutting people off assuming they’re wrongly using it frm abroad. (discuss sky/call18866…

BT Light User Scheme
We have lived in our house for just over 6 months now, and have only made 1 telephone call from our landline. When I heard about the light user scheme from BT, I thought it would be perfect. However, it seems you don't qualify for it if you have i) A mobile telephone in your name ii) A broadband connection. Apparently…

18866
I dialled 18866 before making calls, and most of the time, the voice mail will tell me whether it is a free call or how much the call will cost. However, sometimes as soon as I dialled I got straight through to the person, and again this happened this afternoon. Just out of curiosity, I checked my account online just now…

Martin's appearance on Watchdog
Liked your bit on the prog last night, Martin, but could you not ask them, next time you're there, why, as a consumer 'watchdog', they insist on only giving out an 0870 number for contact? Surely this helps to perpetrate the 'covert' premium line scam!

18866 (again) & ntl
Apologies if this has been asked before - I've tried searching - but with no success. I'm thinking of switching to 18866 but have ntl. Can you tell me if the 0808 number is free please? I asked ntl and they didn't seem to know - but guessed it would be about 30p per minute! Is this right? Any other problems with 18866 /…

Problem with 18866
Can anyone help me with a problem. I have tried to register 3 times online with 18866 and all occasions it is acknowledged by 18866 as being successful. I have then waited for the e mail confirmation which never arrives. Also, 18866 does not work on my landline. The problem is two fold; 1) I cannot get registered. 2) I…
