1899 sign up (merged threads)
The call1899 signup form that asks for credit card details does not appear to be encrypted (do a rt-mouse click and look at properties) nor does it point to a https secure server. I emailed them about this and only got an automated reply. Does anyone know if it is in fact safe?

A Tart At 60!!
Since retiring I need to cut costs. Thank goodness I found Martin! I love the idea of being a Credit Card tart at 60! And I can't believe when I hear 'free call' when I dial 18866! Only wish I had heard of Martin years ago so I could have retired to the Bahamas! One problem though! Sky recently cancelled my membership…

Any NTL customers use 1899?
hey I just wanted to ask if any NTL customers have been using 1899 with there NTL line. I was just worried that NTL might charge me for using the 0808 number even tho its supposed to be free, I heard a rumor (from a unreliable source) that phone companies have a list of these cheaper call services and block there numbers…

Can't reach 18866 or 1899 sites? Is it just me?
I'm getting (in Firefox browser) "The connection was refused when attempting to contact www.call.1899.co.uk" and similar for 18866. In Internet Explorer I get "we can't find www.call1899.co.uk" Is it just me? Had a recent broadband regrade and wondered if that had caused a problem. I am able to access a lot of other sites…

cheap calls without registration
http://www.cheapestcalls.co.uk/index2.php Just dial the prefix wait for the prompt, then dial your number. So the cost goes on your normal bill (It does mean your paying the standard connection rate though). Still Australia just £0.01/min thats cheaper than 18866 or 1899. Why do I love sticking it to BT?

Lo-call telecom sales call - Slightly OT
I was in my office today when the phone rang - it was a very bad line which didn't give me confidence from the off! The woman asked if she could speak to whoever deals with the cost of phone calls. That would be me then. Her: I have some very good news for you. I am phoning from lo-call telecom and we can save you money on…

1899 v 18866
I regret signing up with 18866 because my telephone bills are high - averaging £40 per month! Reason is that because it is so much cheaper to call abroad on a mobile (to Spain), I am calling all too often!! Wouldn't like to think how much my calls would have been with BT!! Pity they don't operate these great call charges…

Onetel number for non-BT user
Onetel doesn't seem to advertise its tollfree number (for non-BT users) as it is dialled by the "phonepal" (sic). If I want to use my own dialler - and use Onetel only for certain calls - how do I get the right number? And might they not change it since their dialler can phone home? I note they have a clause saying you…

Unwanted ph calls ?
I'm ex-directory but just lately keep getting unwanted calls from companies. I don't wait to hear what they're trying to sell me, just ask where they have got my number from. They always say automated dialing, does this mean I have to also register with the TPS to stop them?
