8 week old pup in touring caravan?
Hi. We are collecting our new cocker spaniel when hes 8 weeks old and will have had his 1st jab. Five days later we have already booked a caravan weekend away. I realise it's not safe to have him outside yet and should certainly be kept away from dogs before he's had his 2nd jab, which I understand is to be at 12 weeks. So…

I want my dog back
After a relationship breakdown my ex partner has kept our dog. When collecting my belongings back in June for storage he asked if I was takin her then as she was pining for me. As he made me homeless I couldn't. What started of amicably while moving my belongings he then had a hissy fit and called the dog in and slammed…

Do I get pet insurance?
I’ve had Harry since July, I haven’t bought pet insurance (yet). He’s a Burmese, he does go out - I’m rural ish. I can afford vets bills. I’ve had vet insurance on and off over the years with cats, I’ve never claimed a penny off it. I’ve had some animals that I just paid the vets bills on myself & it worked out better…

Cat proof carpet
My cat has a lovely scratch post, it’s big, it’s solid. He likes it, he uses it. Sadly he also likes the hallway carpet! It was a bit worn from a previous cat in some areas, he’s finishing it off!!! Its 100% wool Berber. That’s the sort of carpet I like, that natural material, close short carpet. Is there any carpet that’s…

12yr old boxer petplan £90mth
Hi. I'm paying £90 per month for my boxer petplan covered for life policy that has risen from £30 over the years. Do you think I could get a better deal elsewhere? And I'm now submitting a claim and on top of the excess £135, I'm also stung for an additional 20% age tax, that I wasn't aware of before. It all seems far too…

making and selling dog treats at car boots
Hi there I’ve recently starting thinking of making my own dog treats and selling them to friends and maybe going to car boots with my product to get a taster as to how popular they could be but wanted to know if there are rules and regulations that I need to be able to sell them at car boots obviously I would have clear…

Where do you buy your clumping cat litter?
We have usually always bought our cat litter from Morrisons but for the last year so it has been a nightmare with constant stock problems, smaller bags and hiked prices. Can anyone share experiences with brands/suppliers they or their cats like? The ones from Wilko and Tesco look ok, but this stuff is starting to get so…

Vets negligence
Hi I am wondering if any of you could advise whether we would have a case for negligence against a vets surgery and whether they do no win no fee deals for this kind of complaint . Basically my son's dog was rushed to the vets as an emergency after investigations it was decided the best option was unfortunately to put him…

Cat first time out since move- now missing. Feel sick
My 11 year old beautiful cat has been shut inside for just over 2 weeks. This morning I released him because he was absolutely wailing and trying to escape and it felt cruel to keep him cooped up. Although an amazingly loving affectionate cat, he is fiercely independent and likes to be outside. He slowly wandered in the…

Need everything quick for new rescue dog
Dear Forum, please let me pick your brains. This Saturday we’re meeting a rescue dog for the first time. Due to his circumstances, if we are deemed to be a good match, we would be picking him up already the following day. That means I have to get fully kitted out in less than a day! Where should I go which doesn’t break…

Fussy eater (dog) ?
My 10 month old dog has suddenly decided he doesn't want to eat his food. 3 days ago he just sniffed it and walked away. I thought he might come back to it but no. Just sniffs and walks off. In every other respect he is the same as usual. Drinking, playful and still wants to eat treats. He eats treats fine so I don't think…

Pet insurance renewal is it legal?
Hi I am with Tesco for my pet insurance, really happy with the level of cover but it’s gone up by 50% for my multi pet policy. I spoke to Tesco and they said it because my “new customer discount“ has ended and that’s the reason for the increase. I ran a quote at Tesco and it came up as the cheaper price from 12 months…

M&S Pet Insurance
My dog has been insured with M&S Pet Insurance for the past 6 years and we have successfully claimed 2 times on the policy. Aside from the price, nothing on our policy has changed. However, we recently had to take our dog to the vet for a suspected blockage. We processed the claim as normal but recently were told on the…

Elodea - bottom or shelf?
I have a pond about 3.5m x 2.3m in size, it has 40+ mature goldfish, with pump and filter system. Given that what is the best position for elodea (Canadian pond weed)? On the bottom or on a shelf - maybe 0.25m deep? On the bottom - the fronds will spread out and up - but can they be drawn into the pump? While, being on a…

Curious about heart scan fees
The local vet recommend our cat have a heart scan at her last visit due to a heart murmur. Fine, I can book it in but then heard the fee £400! I love the cat but that is an insane amount. She's old so not insured. I don't want to hear "If you love the cat pay it". The question is not that, the question is, does that sound…

Cats & Shared Ownership
I’ve been in a shared ownership property for over 2 years now, and owned a car for nearly all of them. I have never had an issue with my cat and my lease makes absolutely no mention (that I can see) of keeping pets at all, I also know that my neighbours are also pet owners. I have been hoping to rehome another cat for a…
