I was hit by a car trader. There were two number plates on the car. One plate was in usual position on car but other one was in windscreen. The person who hit me said the one in windscreen is the one to take note. He told me he worked for car trading company and gave me name of that company. I passed on both plate numbers…

Holding Deposit not returned, dealer blew a gasket!
Just before Christmas I saw a car at a dealers. There was little time to look at it in detail at the time but enough to peek my interest. I did an online car check that evening and contacted the dealer the next day to arrange a further inspection and test drive. We couldn't arrange a date prior to Christmas but said he…

Car accident – repair privately vs insurance ( worried that Insurer will opt for r writ-off?)
I’ve recently had a car incident (no injuries) and my car needs some bodywork repairs due to deep scratches. I’m trying to work out the most cost-effective way forward. Damage is some deep scratches around rim. Damaged when car was parked. I have Insurer excess of £500. My One concern is that although the damage appears to…

What exactly happens if there's no tax, insurance, or MOT on a vehicle?
Hi all. Does the registered keeper get any letters or visits from the police? Because there's a car in my area with no MOT for a few weeks now. Presumably they've not had any contact from the relevant authorities including the DVLA? Thanks.

Main dealer 'drive away 5 day insurance'
My daughter is purchasing an approved used car from a main VW dealer this week and they offer 5 day drive away insurance which we intend to use to get it home and it gives us time to sort out a policy. I am sure the answer to my question below will be yes so this is a double-check/sanity check. With this in place is my own…

Moss/algae suddenly springing up on car - any fixes?
Have had my 'new' car for 6 months but, with all the damp conditions lately, I noted today an alarming sprouting of very fine, bright green moss or algae along many of the seals and edges. Is there a reliable way of dealing with this problem? Very grateful for any thoughts.

Hyundai Kona Self charging hybrid transmission issues
Hello all, So I have intermittent transmission issues after longish journey (90+ mins) where it seems to get 'stuck' in a particular gear and accelerating only increases revs and not speed, it's like it won't go up to the next gear. Today was doing 60 ish on motorway and when putting the foot down nothing happened except…

EV cars with height-adjustable boot
Every time I try to search for this, the results are all about cars with big boots. I've seen the BYD dolphin, MG4 and Hyundai Inster do, but it's really long-winded to look at every car. Does anyone know of a good website where you can compare features like this.

Looking to buy a new car
Hi all I will probably come across as naive but I need some help from the good folks here. I am looking to buy a new car after horrific experiences with Toyota and their hybrid cars. Help with pothole appeal to council please
Hello I hope you can help. I drove in the early hours of the morning along a main 30 road coming off a 50 road in wet conditions and hit a very large pothole. This resulted in a burst front right tyre and I needed to get roadside assistance and a new tyre. I took photos and submitted a claim via the council website but…

Parking fine but have the ticket
Hi I'm just looking for some advice on a parking fine I received from Euro Car Parks (even though I paid and have proof). I paid with cash at the machine instead of paybyphone. It said to enter full reg plate details and I cannot see why I would not have entered these fully but on the ticket it only had the first 4 digits.…

Broken Shock Absorber over a drain. Can I claim?
Not sure how to go about this one. I have broken my rear left shock absorber and its booked in the garage for first week of Feb. So currently have no evidence to make a claim yet. But If I mark the issue on the map then is it considered "known to the council" then I can't claim. I'm confused whether to email or do a form…

Driving Licence renewal photo
I need to renew my driving licence by the end of the month. However the website insists I have a new photo done as my passport has expired and as I'm not planning on going abroad anytime soon I'm not bothered about renewing it. Lease car and credit rating
A couple of years ago I had some financial problems which incurred around £12,000 of debt. I got to grips with it, had great help from Stepchange, and am now in a much better situation, paying creditors and on the right path. I’ve now been offered a new job, but it involves a lot of driving. Financially, it would be…

Fast forward to now, my car has developed a…

Speeding offence - notice of intended prosecution quoting wrong road. Is it invalid?
Hi all, I was caught by a fixed camera doing 35mph on a 30mph road at the weekend and have just received the Notice of Intended Prosecution. However, the road and location identified in the letter are both incorrect - I was actually about 15 miles away from the quoted location at the time. I’ve looked online and the…

Volkswagen ID.4 is a deathtrap! VW are negligent.
Does anyone else agree that VW, VWFS and Vertu Motors are negligent, ignorant and dismissive. There are major faults with their ID EV range which they refuse to acknowledge, take responsibility for or take any action! I’ve tried everything to end my lease with VWFS, because the car they leased me is UNSAFE, DANGEROUS &…
