Getting the most out of a PCP agreement at the end of your arangement.
So my partner has/had a PCP arrangement with VW she's been paying £197.03 for the last 4 years for a VW 1.2 Polo Beats edition car (17 Plate) 42000 miles. PCP isn't something I'd heard of, I used websites such as this to learn more about it. So her 4 years were coming up and we decided that we don't need 2 cars, so it made…

Couldn't get it up last night.
So it's been going up slow for quite some time, and I've just sort of put it down to age. Slowly but surely it's worked. However last night it got stuck altogether to my alarm! I eventually coaxed it up but it was touch and go on the knob. It went up a bit, then I had to wait, stop, wait and gradually it got to the top.Is…

perils of car finance
My advice to people who are just about to buy a car on
finance, it is just my personal experience based on years of car ownership in
all it's forms. Believe me, I have learnt the hard way. DO NOT DO IT. Do not, ever take out finance to buy a car.
Whatever scheme you select, HP, PCP, PCH - avoid. As soon as you drive…

Car lights have become far too bright and are damn dangerous.
For the first time for a few years I had to drive long distance at night, mainly on the motorway. My eyes are good for long distance so I don't wear glasses. One issue which stood out for me was the brightness of headlights, both head on and in the mirrors. When dazzled, what we should be concentrating on (other vehicles,…

Cazoo concerns - Administration
Hi everyone, Just over a year ago, I bought a car from Cazoo. At the time this was the most viable option available to me, and the car I chose was at a great price. I took a PCP with Blackhorse to pay for the car and also took an extended warranty & servicing plan which are paid to Cazoo directly. I've been following the…

Review of selling a car to Cazoo
Just sold my car to Cazoo and wanted to share my experience, as the process was easy from start to finish. Their online estimate (based on car details and my assessment of it's condition) generated a higher price than any of the other similar companies or local garages. I then made an appt to visit them, and was a little…

Salary sacrifice EV savings
Hi, just hoping someone can confirm that my workings / though process is correct. I have been offered an EV through a salary sacrifice. It is a BMW i4, which are over £50k to buy new. At the moment, I have an 8 year old diesel, however the mileage is getting a little high so would be looking at changing anyway, as I do…

Arnold Clark - wait until you hear this.
Made an initial enquiry re a car. Salesman, “I can’t tell you the service history due to GDPR”. Outstanding bullshittery.

ULEZ exemption for older cars pre Euro4/2006
I'd posted in another thread relating to someone selling to get a car that meets ULEZ but thought this worth having its own thread. With the ULEZ zone being extended later this year it could affect even more people and cars that could be compliant instead getting sold or scrapped. The TFL website allows you to check if…

Is stopping at red lights now optional?
I've been driving a bit more over the last few weeks and on a few occasions had following motorist bib me or gesticulate because I stopped for red lights. I stopped relatively quickly but not an emergency stop. On one occasion an open bag of recycling remained stationary, didn't tip over, no bottles fell out. Another stop…

Motorists have been warned by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) to avoid copycat websites that charge a premium for services you can get for free or at a much lower cost via official Government websites. Here's what to look out for and what to do if you've paid over the odds... Read the full story here:…

Two fatal Accidents In my area
Oh why, Oh why, do people overtake! I always catch them up. They always break the speed limit as I go along at 55 - 58. I know it's a non post really and that you have to get to 70 to realise the folly. I think every road should have speed detectors. I don't want someone involving me in their accident! Not trying to be…

QDR Solicitors letter receieved for non payment of fuel
Good evening, The registered keeper of our car has just received a letter from QDR solicitors about non payment for fuel. It's a petrol filling station we routinely use and on that day the driver selected "pay at Pump" then entered the credit card and PIN number. As usual, the pump held the £100 and we fuelled and left the…

Breakdown Cover
Another great win - got my Green Flag renewal docs which quoted me a price of £63.45 (last year I paid £50.76). On checking online I saw that the same cover for a new customer this year was £46.38 so I contacted GF and they agreed to that amount. A saving of £17 and cheaper than last year's price! That is a win!

Did you insure with Aviva on 4 June 2025?
Aviva had a "glitch" so they say on 4th June 2025 so mine and my daughter's car insurance with Aviva Zero did not get entered into the Motor Insurance Database (www.askMID.com). We're both just had letters from the police saying our cars are uninsured, they're not, it's Aviva's !!!!!!-up. When I got the letter I had a…

Discontinued Parking Court Case
DCB Legal were taking me to small claims court for £170 plus solicitors and Court fee (£260plus). I was defending the case as I had paid for parking through Just Park. When they were due to pay the Court Fee, they wrote to me to advise that they had issued a Notice of Discontinuance (N279 Notice). I have spent quite some…
