Mortgage Payout to Ex Partner
A friend’s partner left him a few days ago, no hope of reconciliation. Their new Fixed Rate deal with same provider starts in a few weeks, on 1st Nov. Should he cancel the new agreement immediately, and go onto variable rate in the meantime? He wants to take on the mortgage himself (partner has too low an incone) and is…

Once a mortgage gets quite low (say about 40k) can you just pay it off?
Is there a sweet spot where a mortgage doesn't have much left to go that you should just find a way to pay it off and be done with it? Or is it better to continue till it's gone? Thanks

Restriction on our property
Hi, We are at the end stage of a remortgage but have hit a brick wall due to a restriction against our address?? We were referred to Lowells Portfolio to discuss the restriction after several calls to them from both my husband and I (the mortgage holders) they confirmed there was no restriction against either of us and…

Remortgage time.
Hello, I’m just about to remortgage, probably pushing towards a 5 year deal, as I can’t see much upturn in the economy with Labour in charge. So not seeing much point in doing 2 just to remortgage onto possible worse deal. my question is what are peoples thoughts on term of mortgage. should I just keep it at 30 years and…

4.12% with 999 fee vs 4.36 with no fee? 2 Years fixed
Hi hopefully a quick one - this is for borrowing 228,000 The plan is to remortgage after that initial 2 year fixed period With that in mind, even with the higher interest rate, does it work out better to use the product without fees, assuming remortgaging happens at the end of the 2 year period?

I own a home but my partner doesn't. If we get joint mortgage is their 50% stamp duty?
If I were to buy a 2nd home I'd get hit with stamp duty, but what if it's a joint mortgage with someone who is a first time buyer (and thus no stamp duty) thanks

Equity Release Providers

End of Fix versus end of actual mortgage
Our current mortgage fix ends in about 6 months time, by which time we will only have about another 9 months to pay on our mortgage as a whole. I had naively assumed that we would be able to get some sort of bespoke length fix for this kind of interim period, but apparently not. With the relatively recent interest rate…

Mortgage lender refused to accept Statement of Truth and Indemnity Policy in regard to access issue
Selling my house to my son and partner. Have lived in it for 30 years. Access to the property is on a bridle path. Our solicitor was surprised that Nationwide would not accept Statement of Truth and an Indemnity Policy to resolve the issue. They said most high street lenders would. However, neither our solicitor, or my…

Mortgage Repossession on an Inflated Debt Caused by Bank Errors
where to start! My mortgage matured in 2024-I believe the balance is inflated, none of the figures match up, credits into the account are ledgered but not deducted from the balances, fees were capitalised unjustly, and overpayments were not applied to the capital when the endowment crashed - though it is written in the…

Lloyds bank product transfer mortgage rates
I've been on the variable rate for ages for various reasons, on an interest only mortgage (bad financial decision). I'm not able to remortgage due to income (even though I always make my payments and overpay! I've seen a broker), so I am speaking with Lloyds about a product transfer. In the initial conversation which…
