iD Mobile Changes EU Roaming Fair Use!
Very quietly, iD Mobile have introduced a new fair use policy for data roaming in the EU. Previously, customers had to consult their 'fair use calculator' which generated how much data you could roam with based on the price of your plan. Now, they have standardized this with a set roaming data cap of 30GB, this along with…

2 year sim from RWG
I have always had PAYG phones but have just received an e mail offering either a 1year sim plan of 250 mins, 250 texts and 2 mb of data for £20 or a 2 year plan for same amount of usage for £35. These are a 1 off charge not monthly. I am an absolutely minimal user of either phone calls or data on the mobile network but…

Lebara Referrals don't get paid.
I was happy with this company until I referred a friend in December last year. My reward is still "pending" despite my friend having signed up months ago. Their customer service is rubbish, the woman on the live chat just tried to fob me be telling me to read the website. After I pointed out I'd done all that and just…

Lebara WIFI calling - warning
We recently signed up for the cheap Lebara sim-only deal on the back of the information sent out on the MSE weekly e-mail. As we live in a rural area and have no mobile signal in the house, it's imporatant for us to have wi-fi calling so that we can make and receive calls at home. We had this facility with our previous…

Warning: Problems with Smarty referral process
This is more of a Public Service Announcement really but I recently moved myself, my wife and my two children to Smarty for mobile contracts in order to take advantage of their £10 each referral reward, effectively £60 free, by me creating the first account, then referring the others. I have an @gmail.com account and take…

Hidden costs when buying through a reseller?
Hi, new here. Last year, I signed up for a 24 month contract for an iPhone with Mobile Phones Direct. It seems that the entire monthly cost appears as the tarrif once it gets to the network (O2). So once April comes around, the 3.9% + RPI is applied to the whole lot, rather than to the actual airtime portion. I think by…

3 pay-as-you-go, refund not forthcoming
I was advised a short time ago that the cost of a 3 pay-as-you-go plan was going up. With this being the case you could move providers and get a refund of the remaining balance. So have moved providers and all that is left is to get the refund from 3. I've contacted them and have Live Chat transcripts saying the refund is…

Looking for others who have been mis-sold a business contract by Onecom and sharing my experience
Hi! I was mis-sold a contract by Onecom a few months ago and I just wanted to come on here and post how far I got with complaints and various research and advice I got on how to proceed with them. When I first realised I had been mis-sold this was one of the few forums that came up with people discussing it, and I always…

There is no reason for roaming charges
I used to teach Business and Technology of Mobile Communications at a Master's Programme many years ago. There is no technical reason for the operators to reinstate those fees. None. The only one is economic: Roaming fees are pure profit. And very big. Not even printing money has the same return. Tough to resist if you…

Talkmobile as an alternative to Smarty
Hi Just recently took up a 30gb sim deal with Talkmobile as an alternative to Smarty. I just wanted to give my first impressions for anyone thinking of using them. Like Smarty they offer a no frills alternative to the main networks and seem to get mixed reviews. I first sent for an Asda Mobile free sim to test signal…

Plan.com
I have read some discussions about this company and thought I would share my story. I know I have a long fight on my hands. I received a call from my provider Car Phone Warehouse. The caller knew details about me only Car Phone Warehouse would know and knew my contract was due for renewal. I even said I didn't think Car…

Three retentions
Just a heads up, I recently spent 40 odd minutes on the phone with three trying the old can I have a PAC number game to get a better sim only deal than currently. Upshot being, all they would offer is the deals currently available to new customers, no sweeteners for loyalty. May save anyone having to decipher Indian…
