How to get rid of an inherited 19kg British Gas propane cylinder!
Hi All, My first post, but have been avidly reading for ages. So, really grateful for any advice, I've a 19kg British Gas propane cylinder that was in my garage when I bought my house (4 yrs ago) - I want to get rid of it (in case relevant- I'd say either empty or nearly so from memory of lugging Calor gas cylinders). I…

Luxury Wood Company reduce size of 'giant' crates without telling customers.
We’ve bought firewood from the Luxury Wood Company for a couple of
years now, but when we received our latest crate we noticed that it
was smaller than the ones we’ve received previously (which we had
cut-up and made into woodstores). We checked the
website, which still had the old measurements on it 1.7 x 1.2 x 0.8m,
but…

EDF Exit Fee Rise
Signed up for new EDF Tariff last week, Fix Total Service Sep24v2. The early exit fee advertised was £35 per fuel and that was also stated on Martins website. Just had confirmation for sign up and the T+Cs now say £100 per fuel. How underhand is that?

Oil Vs LPG - New Connection (almost)
So, dilemma on our hands. We are currently in the process of moving our existing LPG tank to a new compliant location. With recent news on gas prices, we are now considering whether moving to oil is the more sensible option. Yes, aware the initial set up cost may be more expensive, and we will need to consider our internal…

Moving to ex-council house that needs new heating system
Hello, New guy here, looking for advice on heating systems after the reports in the news recently that gas prices are about to go through the roof. We're about to move into an ex-council house in a village, that currently has old storage heaters (the previous owner switched to them after coal many years ago!). I have lined…

Aircon air handler positioning
Hi I’m having multi split aircon installed for main area heating/cooling next week. Have discussed it in depth with the company and they’ll fit an outdoor Toshiba condenser with three indoor air handlers. The most common position and probably the easiest for the indoor units is high on the wall and that’s what’s been…

Advice wanted for replacement underfloor heating
My underfloor heating (in the concrete floor) in my first floor flat has failed. The flat is electric only. The heating didn't do the job and I often had to use a oil filled plug-in radiator to top up the heating. I've been doing research for the last week or so while trying to also get quotes for electric heating…

Intergas boilers
We are having a new gas boiler installed and the fitter recommends Intergas. He says that he has fitted many of these boilers, and recommends highly. We hadn't heard this brand name before, and before deciding would appreciate any comments regarding these boilers or any others which you would recommend. Thank you

any ideas re moving / changing boiler?
looking at a flat to buy - really liked the flat, first floor (of three, purpose built block about 40 years old) - I think they originally boilers + tank in an internal cupboard, now it has this rather dominating combi boiler and its piping. Any ideas what we could do ? the thoughts we have had are: - put the tank back and…

LPG tank or bottles - clueless here :)
Wonder if some folks on here can help. Property currently supplied by 2 x LPG 47 bottles and looking for a better solution. Currently I have to remember to go and check them in the outhouse regularly then phone for new bottles and they seem very expensive. The heating seems to eat gas so for the last few years we have used…

Anyone on EON district heating: Meter use maybe faulty.
I absolutely hate being on district heating too many problems, my new problem I have noticed the meter reading goes up even when I'm not using any hot water or heating, I joined a Facebook group of my community and someone said they went away for 6 months and turned off the power and it was still recording usage and eon…

Incorrectly Billed by Scottish Power - what next?
Hi All, Hoping for some sensible advice/wisdom from the informed folks on here. We moved in to our current property 4 years ago now - it’s out in the sticks and only has electricity and a biomass central heating/hot water system. We pay for electricity via direct debit and I’d been submitting meter readings when requested…

Bulk LPG prices - do they tend to be seasonal?
We've been in our first house with no mains gas for a bit over 18 months now. We'll come out of our initial two-year LPG contract with Calor in early January. Know it's a way off, but I'm seeing what look like fairly low prices mentioned on here at the minute and I'm just wondering if there's any seasonality to bulk LPG…

Smokeless fuel Vs. Central heating. (New property)
Hello, I'm about to move into a new property with an open fireplace in a smoke control area. At my current property I have always used the gas fire rather than the central heating as I've found it much more cost effective (and I find the central heating seems to give me a headache). I have never used smokeless fuel before,…

Disputing Heating Initial Readingsg
Hello everyone. On the 01/03/21 we moved into a rental property flat at 11:00 in the morning. We signed our tenancy agreement and received keys at 10:40 the same day. We had no access to the property prior to that time. Our flat has central heating with an HIU unit with a smart meter. We finally received our first heating…

ALWAYS check with your current Supplier before switching energy.
MSE's Energy Comparison is very good & arguably the best available however their algorithm can't & doesn't allow for any "special" New Tariff your current Supplier may be offering. MSE's Comparison came up with some very cheap alternatives but when I checked with Avro, my current Supplier, their New Tariff if I stayed with…
