Help! Does anyone have experience of pursuing an LPG supplier (e.g. Calor Gas) through the courts?
Hi there I'm hoping someone here can help. We've just heard from CDRL that our complaint again Calor Gas has been rejected. They are charging us for a full tank of LPG following their gas leak caused by a faulty sensor that they replaced in July 2022 and acknowledged was an overdue repair. Their defence is that they claim…

£200 heating oil allowance
So where is it? Octopus know nothing about it. Still haven't received it. Where was it when I needed to order oil and had to borrow money? Rural pensioners off grid need it now

Alternative Fuel Payment
As one of the approximate 2 million households that are off-grid for heating I was pleased to learn the government are planning to pay £200 in February to help with the cost of fuels such as heating oil and biomass etc. However, as Martin Lewis himself said a couple of weeks ago, information is thin on the ground as to how…

downrate oil boiler?
I have a 1 year old grant vortex boiler which can be set up with 15, 21 or 26kw nozzles. It currently has the 21, 3 bedroom 1.5 storey house with 11 rads, 200L invented cylinder. Oil consumption over winter was around 11L/day which I'm a bit disappointed with as it's the same as the old non condensing combi it replaced…

Government grant pellet boiler
We receive an annual grant from the government for the pellet boiler that we installed. We had it replaced and had our engineer sign off the paperwork. However, it was discovered that the engineer had let his accreditation expire he provided a further membership number, which was false. The government rejected our grant.…

Logburner with back boiler and oil as a supplement.
We live in a 4 bed1980s bungalow in the Scottish Highlands. Currently we have a 25year old oil boiler on a pressurised system with a logburner in the living room. We’re looking to upgrade our heating and I don’t think the walls of the house have sufficient insulation for air source, plus the running costs horrify me. What…

We have ‘used’ 600 litres of heating oil in 8 days!
We had out tank filled last Monday. That was a surprise as it had only lasted 6 weeks, but we did have a long, cold spell in December so put it down to that. Our oil usually lasts 3-6 months, with on average 2 fills per year. On Monday they filled up with the full 1200 litres. Since then the weather has been miserable and…

Heating Oil or Mains Gas?
We are currently renovating a property and are in the position of having the choice of either a mains gas or kerosene boiler. Mains gas is obviously much more convenient but is there a way of comparing the cost of the different fuels? I have seen various figures for the energy content of kerosene in kilowatt hours but are…

Measuring oil deliveries
Hi all,I've been trying to make an accurate measuring stick for my new oil tank, and have a question about oil deliveries. Previously, my local oil supplier would always write the before and after readings from the dispensing delivery tanker on my invoice showing exactly how many litres had been delivered. My recent…

Anthracite and Coal rebate?
Yes I know, Coal is a dirty word when it comes to saving the planet. However we are in an isolated rented property and currently our coal fired rayburn is our most efficient option for heating, cooking and hot-water.We have heard a lot about rebates and price capping for Electricity, Gas and LPG but what about other forms…

Cheaper Oil Prices
Hi guys, For anyone on oil, last night was the cheapest I have seen oil for a long while. We buy through NRG. Thought I would post this in case people having looked at prices for a while. With gas at 10p per unit (+daily standing charges) I think oil isn't too bad at the moment.

First time oil user
Hi Everyone, So we are currently purchasing a house and it has an oil heating system. It's in a little village with no gas mains, that's no different to the village we live in now but currently we have an air source heat pump. So it will be our first time using oil. The oil tank was replaced about 7 years ago so should be…

Rising heating oil prices
With wholesale prices continuing to fall, why are retail prices to consumers continuing to rise? There seems to be no Government Regulator or control over this area of the energy market. I've obtained quotations from all my local suppliers in order to check prices, and without exception they've all increased I have tried…

LPG tank non-compliant after 8 years, can't change suppliers
We had an LPG tank installed in 2014 by Countrywide (now taken over by Flogas). It was positioned 90cm from a garden wall and should have been 1 metre away. We were able to change to Calor in 2016 (Calor carried out work on the tank so saw the installation) and AvantiGas in 2018 (didn't see the tank and their questionnaire…

Home heating oil
Apparently Brent crude has dropped back to early £2022 pre-invasion price yet an online quote from Boiler Juice shows it's gone back up again, around £470 for 500 litres. Why?

Oil Condensing Boiler - optimum flow/return temperatures
Hi,I've seen the comments regarding gas condensing boilers, how they need a suitably low return temperature to operate in condensing mode. Does the same apply to oil boilers? We have a Grant Vortex Pro boiler and I've been through both user and the installers' guides and can't see any reference. The boiler has a thermostat…
