Share ISA/Cash ISA
I took out a Share ISA before the great crash  I had £7000 invested up to 2001. at the moment it is worth £5900 It is slowly increasing but has been as low as £4600 :( Is it better to cut and run and transfer it into cash Isa as they seem to be performing a lot better. I know I can only invest £3000 a year but is it…

ISA to TOISA
OK, I'm sure the answer to this is no, but I'll ask just to make sure. Since a cash ISA and a TOISA are effectively the same thing am I allowed to transfer my cash-ISAs into my TOISA? My TOISA pays a staggeringly good rate so I just thought I'd ask, although I'm sure you'll all laugh and point out the first two letters of…

Abbey Mini-Cash ISA - Transfer paperwork problem!
Hi, A family member is wanting to transfer their mini-cash ISA from the Abbey to a new provider. Its a branch-based ISA and I think its also a CAT standard. However, they're getting the runaround between new provider (NP) and Abbey as to who is responsible for generating the transfer paperwork - NP says its the Abbey and…

Advice please
Okay...first post. I have a mini ISA worth about £3000 now. We were saving in a 'life assurance' component that is going to be merged with the providers Stocks and shares element. We are unsure of what to do now. Do we leave it in the Stocks and Shares element, change to a Cash ISA, put it in the mortgage? Any advice would…

Cash ISA Question
I have an ISA with Abbey no savings in it at present but rate for up to £6k is 4.3%. I seen A&L's isa rate 5.4% can I close the Abbey and just open the A&L one? also is the best so far or does anyone know of a better rate? Thanks guys Dumplin

New Direct ISA with A&L
A&L are paying 5.40% on £1+ with online transactions and instant access. You can transfer funds in and the only catch I can see is that you have to pay £25 to transfer funds out. This could be dodgy if they decide to reduce their rates. Is this a sprat to catch a mackerel? Maybe, but they don't give any guarantees about…

Yorkshire BS ISA
I have my Mini cash ISA with IF and I want to transfer for a higher rate. I have read all the problems associated with Abbey and had a look at the Yorkshire rate at 5.20%. But I can't believe they don't accept a transfer into their ISA from another provider. Doesn't make sense to me.

Missold ISA?
Hi, 5 years ago, my mum received some unexpected money to the sum of £2000, and she wanted to put this into an account where she COULDN'T get instant access to it. She just wanted to keep it in an account where it would earn a reasonable amount of interest and tick along for a "rainy day". She was also in a position where…

Should I.F. not extend their bonus period end date [as they did last time] their bonus of 0.3% applying to their Mini Cash ISA will end on 31st January. :'( Therefore I’m assuming that their rates will drop on the 1st February from: 5.10% to 4.8% Gross for interest paid annually 4.98% to 4.68% Gross for interest paid…

ISA or offset mortgage?
Apologies for reposting this from elsewhere... I have read some articles recently suggesting that placing money into an offset mortgage account would be more beneficial than putting the same into an ISA. I have 2 questions: 1. How do I calculate the best option? Do I simply compare the rates? How does the tax break on the…

Can I buy shares and get ISA tax benefits
I'm going to put £3k into a cash ISA, but i also fancy having a little flutter buying shares myself, nothing major and definetly under the £3k ISA stocks & bonds limit but can these be packaged as an ISA somehow for tax purposes? Would this mean paying fees to someone to do so? I was planning to just buy them myself before…
