Hi guys, not sure of this is the right place to post. We've recently had a builders in to do a patio and they said they would have to raise up a drain we had in the old patio. They say that they've had it up to check and it's redundant with no sign of use do have covered it over. Is this right? Not sure if they can do…

Plastering costs
I've not engaged with any plasterer's yet as I'm still trying to convince my Husband that the walls need more than sanding and filling, we have dado rail markings where it's been removed and other inexplicable lumps, bumps and dips. Though textured wallpaper would probably cover it lovely. I just want to get an idea of how…

Boiler replacement
Hi All,Sadly, the PCB circuit on my boiler has gone kaput, and the boiler is to old to source a replacment, so the gas engineer suggested it would probably be best to bite the bullet and get a new boiler. Sadly, I don't know the history of the boiler. The previous owner (has purchased two years ago), said the boiler was…

Payment schedule for bathroom refit
Discussing costs with a plumber for refitting bathroom, though he hasn't yet suggested how/when he would want payment made. On the basis we're buying the materials (other than sundry items), how would you expect payments to be scheduled? I would presume any significant upfront deposit isn't really justified if we're paying…

I am getting quotes for new double glazed windows and most companies have a 10 year guarantee but one of the local companies, worker owned, is giving a 20 year guarantee but their quote is about £1000 more than the companies that are giving only a 10 year guarantee.
