Return trip must be booked before leaving
I have an Aviva policy through Nationwide flexplus account and it says: • All persons insured under this policy must have their main home address in the UK, be living in the UK for more than 6 months a year, and be registered with a doctor in the UK. • Cover is for the account holder and their partner living at the same…

HomeServe - Watch out for dramatic price increases on auto-renewal
Utterly furious with HomeServe. My elderly father (84 yrs) took out Plumbing and Electrical cover in 2015 for £51. As a Power of Attorney going through his financial affairs with him I was flabbergasted to discover that HomeServe have taken, via auto-renewal, around £2000 from his account in the last 5 years. Policies like…

Motor Insurance and Fence
If I have a motor claim caused by an accident when I was unable to see oncoming traffic due to size of neighbours fence should I report to insurance company. I did report size of fence previously to council but they never took any action. According to planning it is over the size allowed for fences by highway.

Contents Insurance cover for a large CD, DVD and Blu Ray collection.
I have a very large
music collection, built up over more than 40 years, of about 3,000
CDs and about 900 DVDs and Blu Rays. It is difficult to value it.
Many would be impossible to replace. Many were bought second hand in
specialist shops and on eBay etc. If I place a nominal value of £10
per disc, that totals £39,000.…

House insurance - previous owner made a claim but unrelated to the house
I am just about to move into a new house (already exchanged) and am just arranging home insurance. I was informed by 1 insurer that there was a flood claim at the property by the previous owner. This would obviously increase premium minimun and mean that some insurers will not cover. I have evidence (e-mails) from the…

Lemonade buildings and contents insurance - beware if you live with grownup children
Hello. Just to let you know that if you live with grown up children, or any children that will turn 18 during the lifetime of your buildings / contents insurance you will have to add them separately for a fee. Also, you can only add two other adults. I live with my husband and 2 sons who are both at uni. When I tried to…

Unauthorised payments being taken by Ping Insurance
If anyone has had insurance through Ping, especially Caravan insurance, check your emails and bank/credit card accounts. they recently sent me a renewal offer, for a policy to start 2 months after the original renewal date, of course I was not going to take them up on that as had obtained alternative insurance. Today I…

Group Life Assurance Claim & Medical Records Request
Hi All, I suppose I'm asking this out of curiosity. My wife sadly passed away in February, from cancer that was initially diagnosed in 2019. A claim has been made via her employer on their Group Life Assurance (death benefits). It was approved by the trustees in March, then sent to the insurer for payment. Apparently there…

1st Central car insurance auto renewal, despite not authorising this
I'm aware of the long post/rant from a fellow sufferer re this firm's questionable means of forcing customers to renew with them. It goes like this, you sign up for an annual policy, after an uneventful year you are advised of "your auto renewal is coming up in 16 days, you do not need to do anything, we will deal with it"…

Motability insurance nightmare
Long story, really sorry!!! I was involved in a RTA in a vehicle leased from Motability. The driver was not at fault and the other driver admitted fault from the start. I was sitting in the back seat and the impact was at the back and I suffered quite severe whiplash. At the request of the insurers I was sent to a local gp…

When to notify the holiday insurance company
I've seen my GP and am waiting for an ultrasound scan. Is it best to tell the insurer now or when I receive a diagnosis? My feeling is it makes more sense to await diagnosis.

Travel insurance claim denied - can’t work out if they cancelled and voided the policy aswell
I had a open claim for a travel insurance they denied the claim due to me not declaring a pre existing condition. My fault and I can’t argue that. there closing statement doesn’t mention they have cancelled the cover but they did copy and paste terms and conditions that does mention it so I’m not sure how to interpret it…

How to best handle Home Insurance application error.
I would welcome advice
and suggestions about how to handle a situation caused by my error. We have a standard

every year to get the best deal. For a few years that
was with Ageas. In August…

Renovation Nightmare: Missed Drainage Pipe in Survey, now Flooding – Who’s Liable?
This post is a bit long. There’s a short summary up front for the TL;DR crowd. The longer, detailed read is below, my questions at the end. Thanks. Short Summary We had an extension built. The project manager instructed a drainage survey
before concrete was poured, but one of the main soil pipes—serving bathrooms

Home Insurance Question - How Would You Handle This?
Earlier today a driver lost control of their car, left the road and impacted my car which was parked on my drive, shunting it into the house and damaging the kitchen wall (structural damage). The damage was assessed by my builder who has ordered me to not remove my car until he's got the house propped. The kitchen is new,…
