What happens if hit by uninsured driver?
If I have fully comprehensive insurance what will happen to me? Shall I get compensation for my damage? Also, what happens in case of head on collision when both drivers have comprehensive insurance? A friend of mine told in this case insurance companies ask to settle each other's claim!

{Urgent} Lloyds TSB buildings insurance - they won't help
Hi everyone, I'm posting this on behalf of my friend. My friend lives in a house that was built in the 1930s. She started hearing running water under her kitchen floor about a week ago. Anyway, she got in someone to take a look and they had to dig up the flooring in the house and they found 3 feet of water under the floor…

Confused by Life Insuarance
When we took out our mortgage 6 years ago we were told we had to have Life insurance and took some decreasing term insurance connected to the mortgage. We insured for £150,000 on a mortgage of £75K to allow for some leftover money. 4 children later we decided this wasn't enough and took out a further 150K, just as a 20 yr…

Home Insurance Question

At the moment we are with Lloyds TSB for our buildings and contents (which they then passed on to two different companies, one for buildings, and one for…

Crazy Car insurance quotes
The wife's car insurance is up for renewal and I am a named driver. I got nabbed by a (pointless) speed trap last summer - some things to say about that, mostly unprintable, but nevertheless worthless trying to fight the !!!!!!!s, even with evidence - so ..... I enter the details into the forms, including my nice new SP30…

Wacky world of car insurance
Have just insured my car today for £350 with Norwich Union Direct, with £35 Quidco cashback. This compares rather favourably with my renewal quote of £603 from Ford Insure underwritten by ...you guessed it, Norwich Union.

How good has your insurance company been if you have made a storm damage claim?
I know this site is all about money saving but it's also about getting good value not just the cheapest. So I thought I would start a thread to see what other MSEs have experienced if they have had to make a claim due to the recent storms (I'm sure I can't be the only one!). My insurance is with Halifax - in spite of them…

Are PHI payouts taxable?
Pretty much as the title says really. I am planning to take out PHI cover but most insurers only offer maximum cover of 50-66% of gross salary. So if you made a successful claim on this insurance, which could go on for a long time, would you have to pay income or other tax on the payments? If not, then the value of the…

Debts following Death
My friends father passed away suddenly last night - leaving her as his only remaining relative.
