Exchanging contracts ? Have I got this right ?
So massive over share. we’ve sold the house. It’s in ex’s sole name but the proceeds of the sale come to me. He won’t exchange contracts with the buyers as the deposit he’d then be liable to compensate them for if it fell through between exchange and completion. That deposit could be £1 couldn’t it ?

After so negotiation they apprently backed down but this is a worrying development. The article also mentioned recently…

Electrical safety - rented flat
I rent out the flat above my old office, and I have just had an electrical safety certificate done. This was fine, except that the consumer unit is plastic, and the electrician graded it C3. Of course, it's safe, but it doesn't meet the current regs, which require a metal one. The regs change from time to time, as plastic…

Thinking About Selling House to Local Landlord......
I no longer need my current house and I want to sell it reasonably quickly. It's terrace house and I'm now staying elsewhere and only visiting the property once or twice a week. The property requires money spending on it, mainly decorating internally throughout and also externally. I don't want to do this and would rather…

Buying a house near a mushroom farm
I've just had an offer accepted on a lovely house in a lovely area but I've now realised that it's close to (less than half a mile as the crow flies) from a mushroom farm. A cursory glance at Google suggests these farms can regularly be very smelly. Before I go and canvas other residents in the area for their opinion I…
