NHS dental charges applied within same course of treatment
Last November I lost a crown. I paid a Band 1 fee for the appointment, then a Band 3 fee on top of that for a course of treatment that consisted of a crown plus a referral to a specialist for another tooth. The dentist said he'd been conservative with the crown height and it would likely need further adjusting. 5 months…

Tooth pain goes away after pressing down on it?
Hi all. One of my bottom left molars is causing some issue, namely pain. Half of it has filling in it and the other (half) is just what's left of the original. If I apply pressure downwards on the remaining part of the molar, the pain is reduced by about 90%. The thing is, it may come back again. Anyone know what the cause…

Grinding teeth problem
Hi. At a recent visit to the dentist, everything was generally fine, but she suggested I am probably grinding my teeth at night. There is wear on a crowned tooth and other things that indicate this. I know I used to grind my teeth when I was young, but hadn’t realised I started again (I’m 51 yrs of age). I thought after…

Has anyone got All on 4 implants?
I’ve got a top All-on 4 bridge and I’m having numerous niggly problems with it. I’ve had it about 5 years and for the last 18 months it’s been one problem after another. First one tooth fell out and the dentist fixed it three times before he got the technician to do it properly, then I had a similar problem with another…

eBay beauty
During the lockdown I have been looking at some high end beauty products on eBay auctions and have got some good bargains. I have “won” a Charlotte Tilbury unused lip gloss for a third of the usual price but my favourite bargains are Louboutin nail polish. I got 2 for £15 which may seem a lot but they are £41 each :#…

Carbohydrates of which sugars
I know we're told to view carbohydrates on nutrition labels as a whole but I've always been curious to the "of which sugars" underneath it. Can someone explain? Example: - A cereal box per 100g has: Carbohydrates - 42.5g of which sugars - 10.5g Does the mean there's 10.5g of sugar in the cereal?

Health Insurance
Hi there I have power of attorney for my ex husband. He has has private health insurance since 2013 and one of the policy stipulations is that treatment of a medical condition which he had before date the insurance started is not covered. First varifocal lenses/glasses: Go for the best?
Hi All, I've been short-sighted my whole life, wearing glasses (around -3.5 plus astigmatism), but now I'm getting older and also need reading glasses (+1.5). I'm an office worker, spending most of the day in front of the computer. I went to a local optician (I think he's *very* good) and (provisionally) decided for the…

Changing dentist to maintain implants?
Does anyone know if it’s possible to change dentists to maintain implants? I’ve got an All on Four implant retained bridge with which I’ve had so many niggling problems. My dentist seems oblivious to the fact that I seem to be there every couple of months with a new problem, fillings falling out, teeth breaking after a…

How can they do spectacles with add-ons for £6? Where are they made? Are they using sweat shop labour? I need new glasses and want to cut costs, but not if it is morally questionable.

How much will I pay NHS for 2 root canals?
I have a dental appointment later in the week & already been warned I may need 2 root canal treatments (NHS). What I'm wondering is how payment for the treatment is worked out, should I be paying 1 single payment of £282 (current NHS limit), or am I likely to have to pay 2 lots of £282 because each procedure will be…

Dolly's Getting to Goal Weight and Staying There Diary
So I've always been a person who has struggled with my weight. A yo-yo dieter you would call me who has tried every plan and nothing has ever worked - my fault cos I just wasn't really in the 'zone' as they say and was kidding myself on if I'm being honest. I started Exante which is a meal replacement plan which I know a…
