Check your direct debits with Scottish Power
I recently switched my dual fuel account from Scottish Power to Powergen. I checked the direct debits that SP had set up with my bank, and found that SP had been taking some payments twice. They had set up three direct debits, one for gas, one electricity, and one dual fuel, instead of one for dual fuel. I rang their…

Those long life bulbs ?
As a new customer of Savewarm, they sent me 4 light bulbs, 20 watt equall to 100 watt. My first reaction was that they are duller than a normal 100 watt, is this so. If so, would I defeat the object if I bought a greater strength long life bulb ?

Powergen capped prices continued
;D the offering of powergens capped prices was due to end in Dec. 2004. however, with planned EDF, SSE and scottish power increases and subsequent new capped rates, powergen have decided to extend the period.

Anyone on ZEST4
I have just changed elec suppliers through Energylinx to ZEST4. I was with Basic Power who saved me a lot of money over the past 12 months but i have been promised another saving of £170 + 16% by switching to ZEST4. I have never heard of ZEST4 so i would be grateful if anyone could tell me a bit about them, I have a 10 day…

Grants Available for Cavity Wall Insulation?
Does anyone know whether you have to be a customer of Npower or British Gas to take up the discounted cavity wall insulation offer? I ask as I was an NPower customer but transfered to Powergen earlier this month (goes through on 25/11).…

Scottishpower Outrage!!
I'm in the process of switching from Scottishpower online to Powergen. Scottishpower have prevented me from accessing any of my account details, even though the transfer is not complete. Since the entire account was online, this means i have no record of any financial exchanges with them. Worse still: two unexplained…

door to door energy sales
I have just had my lunch interupted by a very pushy, gobby young sales man knocking at my door asking me about my energy provider. I was confident in Martin's advice about the whole energy switching business and I used, on behalf of my mum and dad, the Energyhelpline site to change suppliers. We moved to Powergen and apart…

Conserving energy in a Conservatory
I have a conservatory attached to the back of my new home. Now it’s really started to get cold I have noticed a build up of condensation on the glass roof, obviously from the moisture from the house. I have found that using an electric heater helps, however it uses up LOTS of electricity. Does anyone have any experience…

Any experiences with Atlantic Direct?
Hiya, I am thinking of switching from British Gas to Atlantic Direct. Lower price is important but so is the customer service and quality. I live in south-west London. Has anybody got any experience with them? Thanks

Fixed-rate Utility Bills
Homelet UK (https://www.homeuk.com) pay your gas, electricity and water bills for £97.50 (2 bed house) a month. Does this represent good value for money? Are there similar services elsewhere?

Sainbury's Energy
Apologies if this has already been asked - couldn't see anything about it....... Does anyone know if the Sainsbury's Energy deal is any good. This is for cheaper Gas & Electric. I know I need to change suppliers, at moment with British Gas for both, but before I commit to switching to Sainsbury's, thought I would check if…

Confused by Uswitch ?
If you like me, are becoming suspicious of Uswitch's accuracy. The search results, using constant data, seems to vary wildly on a daily basis. And also it seems restrictive when you are trying to find the actual account you are currently on - powergen ONLINE never seems to be an option. You may wish to try an alternative…

Scottish Power/Manweb unfair apportioning
I don't know if anyone else has had the same problem as me with S.P or any other energy provider but it made me so annoyed I am writing this here. Basically when my last gas bill arrived -- well over estimated as usual-- I noticed that there had been a price increase. The increase was at the start of October and the bill…

cost of fitting a combi boiler?
I've just had my old faulty combi boiler removed and a new combi boiler fitted which took about 4 hours. This cost me £1200. I've since found out that the boilers cost £500 retail on the web, which means I've been charged approx £700 for the work. Does this seem reasonable? Or have I been ripped off? Thanks

Additional cost on gas bills from Scottish Power
I have both gas & electric from Scottish Power. Today I received a letter telling me that due to the fact that I have an independent gas transporter (IGT) (??) I will have to pay an additional cost ("only 80p a week" - that works out at £41.60 extra a year, roughly another 8% on my bill!). 1) Does anyone know how I find…

NPower door 2 door sales cant beat British Gas
Last night I had an Npower salesman ring the doorbell preaching about how he can beat British Gas on price :) I bet he can't I thought so suggest I'd be interested. Upon asking about my gas bill he did a quick U-turn and backtracked out of any agreement. It seems that when you gas bill is very low (I pay just a few pounds…

Powergen via Greasypalm
On the greasypalm website it states that they give £7.50 cash back and also powergen will give an additional £30 back. Does anyone know if this is still the case? as if so that's better than the £10 via this site. Cheers Chris
