In credit with British Gas
Today had estimated bill through door. It is 10 units out to reading. Bill says we're in credit by £123 (will actually be less than this cos reading is 10 units more than estimate) and this will be carried over to next bill. Realise that this is a summer bill and winter will be dearer but am going to change supplier anyway…

Electricity supply for business customers
I own a small delicatessen business and need to look at trying to save money on my electricity supply. At present I am with Powergen on an "Evergreen" supply basis, but I think I would be better off with a one or two year contract. Does anyone know of any good deals out there?

Turning off at the wall
Can someone tell me what's the difference between turning an appliance off at the wall instead of switching it off and NOT leaving it on standby. Surely it only uses electric if the appliance is in use or on standby?

Metric vrs imperial.
I have a metric gas metre. Each time the meter goes up 1 it costs me about 21p. My brother has an imperial meter (cu feet) and each time his dial goes up it appears to cost 70p. Is this right? The imperial meter is reading in smaller chunks, the Imperial in bigger chunks? I ask as my brother has an £800 bill and is using a…

Well and truly shafted
Hi We have lived in a victorian three bedroom terrace for the last four years now and in our first year we had an old conventional boiler that used a lot of gas. It was costing us about £75 a month to run so we bit the bullet and invested in a Combi bolier. Everything was fine and the bills reduced quickly to about the £40…

Powergen Price Increase
Just received our quarterly bill dated 6 October 2005 and we get a little perturbed that as with last year's electricity price increase, Powergen take it upon themselves to estimate the reading and then proportion part of the reading as usage for before and after the price increase on the 31 August. Looking through the…

When I recieved my last bill, it indicated I'd not used any electricity for the last few months. I currently have £65 credit on my account, but I'm worried I'll get a huge bill when they finally replace my meter and correct my bill. Does anyone here have experience of this situation?

Atlantic Loyalty annual Refund
Last year I received a loyalty rebate equal to a month's direct debit from Atlantic. Can anyone confirm that this is still the case in 2005 subsequent to the SSE takeover... tried to ask Atlantic but they were useless -"we;re trying to phase that out in the form of lower costs" -total rot- their prices have been shooting…

Renting and Meter Readings
Bit of a basic question, but we have never rented before so any advice is most welcome. Just signed the tenancy agreement this weekend (which looked like it was a standard form the estate agent uses). We don't get keys for another week. The property is unfurnished, so there is no inventory, but it also says on the…

Can I switch to Telecom Plus now please ?
apologies for not including this question in the Telecom Plus Discussion thread, but I started reading it and the debate seems to be based on how they sell their services rather than the price of fuel. USwitch has been advising for some time now that Telecom Plus would be over £100 a year cheaper than my current Powergen…

Economy 7 and Normal Rate query
Hi, I wonder if someone can answer this quickly for me. I have two electric metres, one which is normal and one on the low rate (Economy 7). When the Low rate kicks in between 12:30 and 7:30, i believe. Does the Whole house switch over to the low rate. ie. all electrical sockets, heaters, etc... or is the low rate on a…
