Octopus Energy
How come Octopus Energy rate so highly for customer service.
They advertise that they are one of the very few companies who provide an email
address that you can contact them on directly but what’s the point. I’ve sent
them 3 emails in the last two weeks and still await a reply or even an
acknowledgement – I’ve tried…

Is Octopus getting slow ?
I always give Octopus my meter readings on the first of the month. Up to January 2024 a couple of days later I would get the bill online up to the last day of the month of January. I have noticed my January bill was dated 6th February and the bill was later than usual. Now we are March 5th. My DD was deducted from my bank…

Feedback on MSE Website Energy Advice
Not sure if anyone from MSE will read this but one thing that would be really helpful is if MSE articles on the website regards Energy could state next to any potential switch’s/tariffs that are mentioned whether a customer can only benefit from the tariffs in question if they sign up to have a Smart Meter installed with…

British Gas Price Promise Tariff
Am I just a cynic or does BG "Price Promise" fixed tariff have a gotcha? On this tariff, for me, S/C is +28% and unit is -13%. Most people will save now, for the remaining 6 wks. The the cap is predicted to drop 16% and BG's price promise is that they'll match this. I wonder if that includes the s/c too? But what about Oct…

Octopus £0 exit fee tarrif
Hi MSE forum Looks like Octopus no longer charges an exit fee with their tarrifs, which are cheaper than the current price cap. Does that make it a no-brainer to swap now? It locks you in for 12 months, but i'm assuming if the prices drop, you can sign up for a new tarrif straight away at a cheaper rate if the exit fee is…

Northern Gas and Power.
I am looking for other people who have had a similar experience to my own. I was mis-sold a new energy and gas contract by Northern Gas and Power. Without wanting to go into too much detail on the matter. I was recently mis-sold a contract by Northern Gas and Power on one of their ‘blend and extend’ contracts. What I was…

British Gas :new system lack of communication
Out of the blue British gas have sent me an email to say it's time to submit your meter reading. All very well but I have got a smart meter. So I went onto online chat, which then said it's a known fault since the swap to their new system. They are working to correct it but in the interim to submit meter readings. Why on…

Isn't this more concerning than the £16 Ofgem hike?
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-67494082 "Wasted wind power will add £40 to the average UK household's electricity bill in 2023, according to a think tank. That figure could increase to £150 in 2026, Carbon Tracker has estimated. When it is very windy, the grid cannot handle the extra power generated. Wind farms are…

So Energy - Broken Company?
I've had some horrendous experiences with So Energy for the last few years , although previous years were okay. I'll summarise my experience. 1. Aug'22 - Installed gas and electric smart meters with an IHD device. Everything seemed to be working okay. 2. They were unable to produce any monthly bills for 10 months while…

Abolish standing charges
Gas and electric standing charges are regressive. They penalise the poor at the expense of the profligate. Taxes aren't levied with a standard charge per household so why should energy charges? Increase usage charges to cover the shortfall but abolish standing charges. Basically the poor are currently subsidising the rich.…

Scottish Power 'Power Saver' events - anyone taking part ?
Did anyone else take part in yesterday evening's Power Saver event and if so, what was your target usage for that 90 minute session ? I opted in, expecting to take simple energy-saving steps like turning the TV off, delaying tea and not using the dish washer or washing machine and was shocked to discover that my target was…

The Great British "not put my heating on yet" brag
I'm sure you all know someone who says this. You may even say it yourself & while I can't say how everyone up & down the land intends to mean it, for those people I come across it's almost always said in a bragging puff the chest out sense. But it made me wonder .... the knock on effects. Last year I tried to hold off as…
