How can my Dad gift me his house without paying both IHT and CGT?
My Dad moved in with me a year ago and his house is standing empty - he is still paying the utility bills on it. What is the tax implication if he gives it to me now rather than leaves it to me in his will - he would rather gift it now if he could and we would rather avoid paying both CGT and IHT

Self Assessment expenses receipts not in own name
Hi my son started a side hustle 2023/24 and needs to do a self assessment. He built himself a computer, from scratch, for the youtube channel. Some of the parts were really expensive (£900 +) so I used my credit card to buy them since he didn't have one himself. The parcels were addressed to me an delivered to our shared…

CGT random questions
Sorry if these questions appear stupid but, here goes: If a person inherited shares from their spouse over forty years ago, is there any CGT to pay if they sell them or for the estate to pay when they die? The person cannot remember if the shares were in joint names originally or if they were moved into their name on the…

CGT ON 'NOTIONAL' GAIN GIA FOR TAX RETURN
Hi I have a GIA and I am now filling out my tax return. The statement from my GIA provider includes a consolidated tax certificate which shows the dividends that have been earned on the funds in the GIA and on which I know that I will pay income tax. The dividends themselves are now just part of the GIA. Separately the…

Tax on savings
Hi. I’m not
great with understanding the information on the HMRC website, hence this
question that I'm hoping someone can help me with. If my annual income is less
than £17,570 (income would be a Defined Benefit pension of £4,000 pa, and
drawdown from a SIPP of £8,570 pa, totalling £12,570) does that mean I’d have
the…

Unable to transfer Married Allowance on self assessment
Hi We have been trying to transfer the Married Allowance from my wife to my account but it isn't working. We completed the details on her online form and an error message came up. Will Savings interest affect which income tax band you;re in?
Say profit from self employment business was £48 000 in Apr 23-24 tax yr and savings interest was £3000 in same yr.
