There’s no doubt that we are currently living through extraordinary times, and it’s really important that people get accurate and official information about coronavirus in the coming days and weeks. With this in mind, the MSE Forum team will be deleting any posts that amount to scaremongering and/or ill-advice if spotted,…

A personal victory.
This might not seem a lot to anyone reading this, but to me it's massive. I have PTSD. There, I said it. For years, I have thought that people walking by were looking down their noses at me, judging me. I went to the doc, he gave me medications that made the world foggy and me feel funny so I stopped them (yes, I know.…

Sometimes it’s the little things
We went shopping today. I was feeling a bit bleeeurgh because I’d had an injection and my arm was hurting. Just outside the supermarket a little girl approached me and gave me a daffodil. She ran over to her mother, turned round and waved at me and gave me a big smile. Sore arm forgotten, I suddenly felt good.

Restored my faith in my community :)
Everyone talks about local fb groups… a lot of people described as “karens” or “moaning about fireworks”. in the depth of my depression I got myself into a heap of debt… this month paid off my loans but unfortunately due to other bills have been left with £0. (My own fault) I put a post on our local fb group asking about…

Received a message of thanks.
Hi, I didn't really know where to post this so put it under the heading that mentions kindness. Yesterday I received a private message from another member of the forum to say 'thank you' for some positive comments I made in response to one of their posts a few months ago. They said it meant a lot to them and that what I…

National Trust offering backgrounds for your Zoom video calls
If you feel the need for a slightly less grand background for your video calls than your own home, just to show that you're a man of the people, the National Trust is happy to oblige with some fairly dowdy pictures, such as the above. There's a range to choose from here…

I saw ducks in a carpark
I saw three ducks at the carpark at work, it was the best day of my life. The end.

Exceptionally thoughtful young man.
Supermarket carpark. Enormous bang from offside front of car and car lurches down. A young man hears the noise and expresses concern. We drive home very tentatively and young man, unbeknown to us, follows to make sure we are okay. So worried. We didn't thank him enough, but we are very grateful and blessed for his kindness…

Please read and please stop asking the same questions
We try to be as helpful as we can, but this forum is overwhelmed with new threads that ask the same questions countless times. Some of us now cut and paste the same answer to a dozen threads at a time. New questions on this forum are falling into two categories: those that have already been answered, and those that can't…

Pub opens as shop for vulnerable, elderly, and key workers
The Eccleston Arms in St. Helens has opened today as a shop. They are using catering sized rice, pasta, etc split down to sell to the elderly, vulnerable, and key workers. They have requested that people send carers if they are in an at risk group, and to bring proof. There are certain hours for collection, but I believe…

NHS non-clinical staff
So many are ready and willing to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in helping to care for patients even though they’ve never trained for it and it’s a far cry from their job descriptions. If this is you, thank you, you will make such a difference!

Why are travel businesses offering credit vouchers instead of cash refunds?
There seem to be an increasing number of people reporting
issues with obtaining refunds for cancelled travel within the 30 day period
that the FCO has issued their latest travel advisory for. Please forgive me for starting (yet another) thread but I
thought it might be worth trying to keep future discussions on the refund…

My ex-friend paid me back!
Last month I asked for advice over a former friend who didn’t pay me back over an errand and travel, I accepted that she would not pay me back, but today she paid me back. I never thought she would. It took a while, but I’m glad I have closure.

The pictures of Sir Tom being knighted by the Queen.
What a remarkable story, culminating in the wonderful pictures today of HM knighting Sir Tom. Also his interviews afterwards. I liked it when the clever journalists asked what had been said between him and the Queen, expecting a big scoop, but Sir Tom said "that is private"------no flies on Tom ! Another of those stories…

Had to share this
Since lockdown a friend has been doing shopping for her slightly dotty 88 year old MIL. Said friend has also been religiously participating in The Big Clap every week and has spoken of this to MIL on a few occasions. Thursday morning MIL rang to request some shopping. A conversation ensues: Friend: I'll drop your shopping…

One of our unsung covid heroes
I live in an old cottage with a low water flow due to being on a shared supply and getting a washer to work is tricky. So I have always used the launderette in the local town. However being CEV and immunosuppressed with a chronic autoimmune lung condition, I've been shielding due to covid and the launderette has been off…
