Best Offshore Multi-Currency Current Accounts
Hi - I'm new here and am hoping that you might be able to offer me some advice. I have had for a few years now a sterling Offshore Current Account with Natwest in the Isle of Mann, as I was working overseas and earning tax-free. I am becoming increasingly fed up with their poor customer service, and problems accessing…

Nationwide flex account - should I keep it?
About 2 years ago I opened a Nationwide flex account because they gave me a free £10 M & S voucher. I have never ever put a penny in or used the account, but technically Nationwide thinks it is still open. I keep thinking I should close it because I don't use it, but are there some future transactions where it might be…

Halifax Change in Interest Rate Overdraft Charges
Anyone else get their bank statement this week and get the leaflet about the change in the overdraft interest rates to be charged starting from May 16 2005 ? Currently if you pay in £1000+ pm then the authorised overdraft rate is 8.9% apr, that's set to increase to 13.9% apr (I think that's a rather steep increase) On the…

If you were expecting to get paid today (31st March) you may not be...
If your company banks with Barclays and you were expecting to get paid today then you probably won't be. I've just heard they have had a huge systems failure and estimate 1 million people won't get their money. I don't know the details but I guess it would affect all Barclays BACS payments today, not just salaries.

Account needed - having problems
OH had an account with Lloyds TSB on which he was not aloowed (or in fact able) to go overdrawn, but thanks to them missing a direct debit, then taking it out when the funds weren't there - it went overdrawn. So they downgraded his account to a basic one, where he only has a cashcard for use at LLoyds TSB ATMs - which…

Still awaiting chip and pin card.
I was under the impression January was the big changeover month, but here we are approaching April and I've still not had my Halifax debit card replaced with a chip and pin enabled card. The expiry date on the current card is April of this year, so I'm guessing they're putting it off until it expires before sending me a…

halifax money back a/c loop hole
Last weekend, I used my money back debit card to buy newspaper at Tesco, and asked for £20 pounds cash back. I think would the £20 pounds also count into final "cashback spending". I personally think so, because, the whole transcation will be deducted total amount (including the cashback amount). If so, when we shop in…
