CityFibre and Broadband providers.
I am getting totally and utterly lost in the mire of TLAs and FLAs being slapped around when discussing this new fibre connection. Examples are FTTP FTTC. Who knows or cares what the blue blazes these mean? So maybe someone on here can help please? I am 84, spent all my life in the computer connectivity world and am left…

Fibre not available.
Hi a few years ago I was with plusnet on a 30mbs FTTC deal. Recently looking at changing and discover that the only options for my property is 10ish mbs from a variety of suppliers, which I presume is standard adsl, or virgin full fibre. Has Openreach stopped doing FTTC.

Virgin media removed NHS discount mid contract
I called up Virgin Media the other week as I was having internet issues. After discussing with the operator they reset my router and offered me a speed increase for an additional £2 per month on my existing deal. I accepted as this seemed reasonable and we have a lot of heavy usage in the house. Fast forward 2 weeks and I…

BROADBAND
Ir recently struck me that staying loyal to a broadband provider is expensive. You start at a (comparitively) low rate and each year they hike it by inflation plus. By switching you reset to a lower figure which then increases by inflation plus. That means the loyal customer has his price increased on the previous years…

Poor speed clause for contract?
I've been having issues with phone line loss of phone service and extremely slow broadband Openreach have "fixed" the problem I have dialtone now and BB has improved but its still only half the speed I had before the problems on the line started Do I have any recourse with Shell Energy to terminate the contract early for…

Broadband and mobile connectivity
We’re with Sky and their broadband area checker suggests we should be ok for 4G, even 5G, at home. My iPhone 7, partners old Motorola and the iPad suggest otherwise, regularly losing internet connection and most of the time we’re only being able to receive incoming calls via WhatsApp; the issue with the calls is a…

Three 5G broadband “unavailable” despite having a 5G mast on my roof
Morning, I’d like to move to mobile broadband as fibre to the property isn’t available here, so I have no high speed options. 4G speeds are absolutely awful, averaging below 20MB/s. I recently had a Three 5g mast installed atop my property and my mobile data speeds are now just under 1GB/s. My neighbours got Three 5g…

But Now say I can't its not available at my address I have to go with Sky! But on all search engines for my postcode it shows as available, when I go to sign…

Three home broadband - start a new contract
I originally signed up for Three home broadband, 24 month contract starting at £24 a month. Very happy overall with the service dispite a few outages and get speeds of 200Mbps+ some days. Now I'm 2 and a half years in, out of contract, and paying £26-21p per month due to annual increases. Three are offering new signers a…

virgin mid contract price rises
I have been on broadband contract with them since 2020, twice renewing at 18 months per time, £24 per month - a promotional rate. My price has not increased. I'm trying to renew the contract for another 18 months, they've finally agreed, but they're now saying my price will rise by 3.9%+Jan RPI, each April. If this is the…

Getting hold of Virgin
Virgin are now near impossible to get hold of. I'm losing my home phone apparently as my Hub was installed in a different room from my main telephone box and apparently will no longer work when my area is switched to all fibre services. Then I have a discount ending in November 2023 which will increase my broadband charge…

New build FTTP can we have a Landline?
In the process of buying a new build retirement flat which I have been advised will have FTTP. From my research it appears that there is no traditional landline and so phones that use VOIP are required. I assume VOIP is the way forward, is it as good as a traditional landline? Is it possible to have a landline installed or…

Can I approach this provider for a reduction in my bill?
hi guys, I have talktalk broadband here. it is terrible. no other providers can install where I live, which is pretty rurally, but I get very patchy unreliable service and very slow speeds. I have had to get Starlink wifi ontop of it in order to actually stay on zoom calls etc. Only reason I still have the talk talk…

Getting Activated after Switching Providers
I've had a disaster, been paying £96 a month for 900mb for BT, the offer I got was a ten pound reduction so decided to shop around. I've been with BT for around 12 years or so but didn't want to commit to another 24 month contract at they price with it going up each April too. Did a price comparison and read some reviews…

How to get cheaper virgin deal or go elsewhere
Hi, Have been with virgin since they started in this area. A long time. Couple of years ago, I managed to get my tv/phone /broadband package down to £55 per month. As my deal finishes with them soon they informed me it would go up to £75. I haggled and got it down to £69 but still a fair increase. Other than changing the…

New contract, different household member?
Hi I wanted to understand how getting a new fibre broadband contract would work. Right now we are with Vodafone with contract due to expire next month. This is on my wife's name. Virgin Broadband rant
Good morning. Loving my virgin broadband cancellation experience. Their process seems to be designed to throw a lot of roadblocks your way if you try to cancel: 1) cancel via post, phone or chat. 2) if you chose chat: expected wait time 660 minutes (I guess a lot of people give up that way and decide to try later). Not to…
