6 Years Later.
Hello. Just thought I'd pop on and say as of today my Bankruptcy order is off my credit history. Time has flown by and I am now in a much better financial position than I was 6 years ago. The help I received from this group has been absolutely fantastic and was a godsend. So for anyone about to declare bankruptcy, do your…

BR experience
I wanted to come on here to share a few things from my own personal bankruptcy journey, in the hope it will help many others out there now and for years to come as this forum did to help me. I went bankrupt in March of this year and now 2 months on, hand on my heart I can truly say it was the best thing I could ever have…

12 years post BR
Hello, 12 years ago today I went to the Royal Courts of Justice to file my bankruptcy. I used to be a frequent poster here in the Bankruptcy and Living with it forum but I don't come in here often now. The current situation we are all in with Corona virus reminded me that I was so thankful for the financial crash of 2008…

Off the List
Over a year ago, I joined the forum to help guide me through what to do; from completing my income /outgoings form to advise of what and when to do things and of course the much anticipated /dreaded phone call when it came to pushing the 'send' button to declare bankruptcy. Now a year later, my name is off the individual…

Thank You
I am only couple of days away from being released of 12 months BR and I just wanted to say a big thank you to all. This forum has been enormous help, some people in this community are far more knowledgeable than some "professionals" I have talked to on some dept advise organisation. Before I discovered this forum I had…

The bankruptcy experience
I went bankrupt early last year so am now free of it. I was going to post something before but Covid hit and I was worried I might be bankrupt again soon! However, thankfully that has not happened. I read this forum regularly and found it helpful. I was also mindful of how much people struggle with some even thinking of…

17 Years Post BR
Hello, 17 years ago today I went to the Royal Courts of Justice to file my bankruptcy. I used to be a frequent poster here in the Bankruptcy and Living with it forum but I don't come in here often now. At the time I was so thankful for the financial crash of 2008 as without that I probably would have lost my home. I was…

Bankruptcy approved, a fresh start awaits
After nearly 2 decades of financial chaos, I’ve finally grabbed the bull by the horns and taken charge of my future. To give a little back story, my partner died 15 years ago of alcoholism related illness and I was left caring for not only our shared child but also his 3 from a previous marriage. Unemployed and unable to…

Halfway done.
I just realised that I'm already 6 months into my bankruptcy. It's gone in a flash. I am annoyed with myself that I hesitated for such a long time, because it could all be over by now. I know everyone says it, but it wasn't a fraction as scary as I thought it would be. The first few weeks were confusing and nerve-wracking,…

12 years on from BR
I just wanted to provide an update and maybe some hope for those that are coming through bankruptcy. I last posted about being bankrupt about 11 years ago. MSE was sooooooo helpful at the time. It saved me in many ways. At the time I was a single parent and struggling with debts that accumulated over the past 10 years…

Bank Accounts for Bankruptcy
Just a quick update, which some may find helpful in the future. Starling have confirmed that I am okay to carry on using the account. Their default stance is bankrupts can use their accounts, as long as there is no overdraft, and no debt with them, although they do take this on a case by case basis. Good to know their…

12 months on and discharged.
Today I was officially discharged from bankruptcy. The last 12 months have literally flown by, whilst I haven’t posted much I can only say thanks to those that have in the past. The wealth of info on this site enforced my decision to declare and reading the experiences of others has been so helpful. For those considering I…

Positive story -you can move on: including with a mortgage.
I went BR 13 1/2 years ago after an abusive marriage. I was discharged 13 years ago, after a few months. I followed the clean up and built my history slowly. I have an excellent credit score whatever that means. My file is heathy and I have lots of lines of credit which are used sensibly. I have just got a mortgage (didn’t…

To all those who are worried or worse....
I just wanted to say a massive THANK YOU to the people on this forum who regularly answer the queries/questions/calm the fears of those of us who are in this situation. I have found the non-judgmental advice invaluable over the last year and a bit. I had to declare BR last June and have just been discharged. I can't tell…
