It is a minefield trying to find which to join, we live on Lincolnshire/Nottinghamshire border and all the parks and interesting places around seem to come under a different organisation! All of them charge a lot to park or get in but offer free or reduced entrance to members but we cannot afford to join them all! Notts…

Can I get a NYE refund due to illness?
Advice please....We booked a UK holiday for a week to include New Year's weekend. I booked a New Year's Eve meal/party for my family of 6 in the hotel. It was expensive, about £100 each, but we thought we'd splurge this year. When I booked it was stated the tickets were non refundable, which was OK as we had every…

Planning Scotland for Xmas 2017.
I'd love to spend a week over Xmas 2017 in a cottage in Scotland. But i am on quite a tight budget. It'll be for myself (adult) and 2 teenagers (17 and 13). Getting from Cornwall to Scotland is expensive in itself. I don't want to drive, so the options are fly or train. Train wise, there is a direct train from Plymouth to…

We have to go to a funeral in Worthing in mid January. There will be 4-6 of us who need self catering accommodation for 2 or 3 nights. Looking at holiday houses they seem VERY expensive, any one any ideas? Annoying thing is the Google adds say from £37 a night for a place but when I go to book it is more like £190!!!!!!

Family on the Tube
What is the best way to get around on the tube as a family over a weekend? I notice the 3-day travelcard is no more. Contactless cards arent appropriate as we will have children/teenagers with us and as we will be visiting only once, Oyster cards seem OTT. How much is a cheapest 3-day/weekend travelcard for 4 x adults and…

Surprise weekend trip to London
As a surprise for my husband and son (aged 9) I've booked a weekend to London. They know about it now as I made a riddle that they had to solve. So we are going to London by train Saturday morning (17th Dec) from Birmingham and staying over night in the Premier Inn near Victoria. We are planning to go to Winter wonderland.…

Keeping food warm on a journey
Apologies if this is not a good place to ask this question, but I can't quite work out which part of the forum would be best. Next week myself and a few friends are helping another friend move house. As I have various dietary requirements I said I'd cook my version of paella and take it for us to eat at lunchtime. My…

Nice coastal remote cottage holiday Scotland
My wife and I want to go away in February 2017 for around 5-7 nights. We like beautiful remote, rugged coastline with perhaps a nice pub/restaurant within reasonable walking distance. Love nature and birdwatching. If anyone can help us with some suggestions of locations, letting agencies/private letting with reasonable…

London Hotel - Family Rooms
Can anyone recommend a central London hotel with family rooms for a weekend trip within a sensible budget. Our party would include 4 x adults and 3 x kids, so looking for 2 x family rooms but the prices for this type of room wherever I look seem extremely high. Plus all of the various travelodge & premier inn central…

Rented cottage - cleaning question
Hi, slightly random question but something that's been buzzing round my head. I have rented cottages/apartments in the past and was wondering how much cleaning and tidying would be expected by the owners, before I check out? I would never leave dirty dishes or rubbish strewn about the place or leave it mucky, but should I…
