Windows 8 not starting properly
Hi, wonder if anyone can help. My daughter restarted her laptop (Lenovo G580) last night and now it won't load the start page for Windows 8. After putting in the password it opens to a blank screen. I can get Explorer up by going through Task Manager and 'start new task'. I tried to upgrade to win 8.1 to see if that would…

Legal streaming methods
It appears that MSE decided to close my previous thread rather than just delete the replies that they didn't like, so I'll try again. And just to make it clear, I will not consider any method that could be considered illegal so please don't waste your time posting any. ********************* Having decided that a minimum of…

converting .swf files for youtube?
Hi, I have been using the camstudio program to record some videos on my pc and saves the films in two formats, AVI or SWF The .AVI files are huge and even a short 30 sec video can end up being 1.5GB. Which then takes ages to upload and convert itself. The .SWF files are small, 40mb for a 30 sec vid, but youtube does not…

Using Chrome customise/settings, I am able to control individual page settings ie zoom and that stays on the page it is set only. Time to replace netbook? What with?
I have a Samsung N150+ netbook which I bought, in a hurry, to go to the States and use on the road, in 2010. In many ways I have been very pleased with it. It has a proper keyboard, which I like, and an effective power saving hibernation mode. Sound is good, so is Bluetooth, it has 3 USB slots and the usual other ports. It…

Watching the Ryder Cup
Having decided that a minimum of £125 to get into Gleneagles for one day's play of the Ryder Cup was a bit steep for my blood, I'm now thinking I might spend a lot less to get a streaming device and access to Sky Sports for 3 days and sit in my warm, dry living room instead. I can see that a NOWTV box with a 1 week Sky…
