How can I stop my cat sleeping on someones garden please
Hi all, just found out after 12 years living here my next door neighbour is upset because my cat is laying on the concrete in his front garden. She does not go to the toilet there or anything, just lays in the sun. I understand but they have never mentioned it at all to me but was moaning to another neighbour about it. Can…

Why do so many cat foods have such a low meat content?
There is always a lot of talk on this board about cat food, and something that comes up time and again is how whiskers/felix and many other brands are poor quality and all filler with a very low meat content. I'd never really given it any thought until I started comparing different types of food for my own cat and realised…

Toys for indoor cat
Hello all On Saturday I adopted a (second) cat from a rescue centre. She has to stay indoors for a couple of weeks, but I wouldn't be surprised if she turns out to be an indoor cat, as she seems perfectly happy in the bedroom and hasn't made any attempts to come downstairs or try and get out (unlike my first, who was…

Money Saving Cat Tree
We recently acquired a couple of new additions to the family in the shape of Tilly and Angus, from the local pet rescue centre. I'd seen pictures of cat trees - basically active play areas for moggies, and thought they looked great fun. However, they were all moderately expensive (depending on the brand and size) so I…

Skinny stray kitty
We have a stray kitten, was just given to us this afternoon. A friend found it in the road a few miles away. Don't know anything about background. We think he's about 4 weeks old. Very easy handled, a real sweet wee thing, and purrs so easily! But he's too placid - has spent the last few hours sleeping and sitting looking…

Collar that doesn't wear the fur away?
I need a new collar for Gitdog to replace his halfcheck. I'm looking for an ordinary one, it won't be used to attach a lead to, just for his name tag and to hoik him off the settee when he's ignoring me. The last collar I had (same type of material as a lead, not sure what it's called) needed to be tightish so it didn't go…

Healthy Pet Club Scheme - Query
My cat, whom is nearly 14 is a diabetic and needs long term treatment. I moved house in December, and registered him with the local vet. I joined the healthy pet club scheme for £9.99 per month. I had received nothing but poor service from the vet clinic. The first time I took him in for his routine blood check, they took…

Snuffly cat
Has anyone else has a cat that has developed a blocked/snuffly nose and no other symptoms? She is a fit 16 yr old and is still eating and drinking and not otherwise unwell. Going to the vet is a big stress for her though, so if its a common thing then I will see if she gets better by herself. Its been about 10 days now,…

Gitdog's guide to bathing.
1) Where possible, avoid clean water at all costs. Muddy, stagnant or festering water would be the ideal to submerse oneself in if available. At every opportunity. 2) Should your owner start muttering about aromas, don't take any chances. Leg it back into the house as soon as they go near the garden tap. 3) If invited in…

Dog proof bin?
Any ideas? We currently keep our bin on a worktop at the far end of the kitchen, seems a waste of limited worktop space. Keeping it on the floor does not work! Dog is an expert at getting through any type of bin and bin lid when on the floor - we have tried them all! Max thinks its a challenge.

Has anyone used Ectoline flea treatment?
When I was in my local pharmacy this morning I noticed they sell Ectoline flea and tick treatment as well as Frontline. I've had a real battle with fleas lodging on the cats this year and was wondering if anyone had used Ectoline and whether it was effective? (The problem is with the cats not with my carpets, furniture,…

Deathwish psycho ninja cat help.
Advice needed for situation that is both funny and concerning. Gitdog regards all small furries as something to chase. A new cat has moved in down the road which he got very close to catching when we were going out one day and it was in the front yard. And to be fair, as it was crapping right outside my window, I did let…

Does anyone use Medivet?
Hi I'm looking for a local vet just for a cat checkup and the nearest one to me is a Medivet. I can't seem to find any reviews except for a documentary on Panaroma in 2010 about some dodgy behavior from its staff. Since that was a while ago, I'm wondering if anyone uses them and can advise if it's worth going to them?…
