Porting Mortgage to Spouse’s property
Hi all, We recently got married and both of us have a home in our own name which we purchased separately before we met. We would like to sell my home and port my very favourable Barclays mortgage (1.47% for a further 6y) to her property and be joint owners, both on the mortgage. Barclays have said this isn’t possible but I…

Let to buy + maternity leave + new job = possible?
So much is going on for us, I would like some input from wiser heads. We are a couple in our mid 30s and we own a small house in an expensive south east town, London commuter belt. This is worth about 420,000 and we owe 280,000 on it. Almost a year ago, I got a new job in a much cheaper northern town. We got consent to…

HTB loan and further advance- is it possible!?
Has anyone who has used a help to buy loan managed to borrow more on their mortgage before paying the loan off? Halifax seem to think it's now possible and have progressed our request for a further advance without requesting us to repay the loan. They are requesting a letter of postponement from Homes England currently. I…

Bank not honouring written promised rate (formal complaint?)
Hi all, Would love to hear people’s experiences. Long story short - we originally had a broker but ended up going direct with the bank as at the time they had the most competitive rate (my husband is self employed and has business loans with them). - We had a mortgage approved and fully underwritten on a property and…

Hello everyone, Me and my partner are looking to buy a house. We've saved up a decent deposit. They, are on a zero hours contract, as a student, until they graduate. Solicitor delayed completion of mortgage - paying extra interest
I’m having a delay with my remortgage completion due to Optima legals system issues. Was supposed to complete 25th but solicitors delayed it to 27th (when the money was sent), but they didn’t ask Lloyds to send the cashback. So was delayed to today, but now they are having system issues so can’t see the cashback from…

2 years left on a 1.83% fixed mortgage. Should I wait it out?
Hi all. I’m on a fixed repayment mortgage with Halifax and the current term ends in Oct 24. It’s 1.83% and a great monthly price. Is it wise to wait the next two years out or should I fix in to another one and take the fee?

Credit Rating Score
Hello I am hoping to get on the housing ladder at some point and hopefully secure a mortgage with my bank Barclays. Currently my score on Experian is 651 which is poor. I think this is due to me having three credit cards and a consolidation loan in process. Does anyone know what sort of credit rating score I will need to…

Natwest remortgage
Bought a house for £490,000 in December 2020, with a £315,000 mortgage on a 2-year fixed at 1.34%. Natwest valuation now states £560,000, and £303,000 remaining on the mortgage. The portal advises that I can look at new deals 4 months prior to the end of the 2 year term, which would be August. Is there any possibility to…

Lloyds remortgage - can you cancel anytime before completion?
I told my colleague that as long as you add any fee to the mortgage, there's no valuation fee and you use Lloyds free legals, you can 'cancel' the remortgage anytime before completion without any cost. I've never done a mortgage direct so I'm doubting myself now, is what I said correct or are there any caveats?
